What is Built Endures is a side quest in Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening. The walls of Vigil's Keep are badly damaged, and require fixing in order to improve your chances against another darkspawn attack. Voldrik requires your assistance to help improve them.
Voldrick wants a source of granite to remake the walls. The granite can be found in the Wending Wood to the east of the mine entrance (see picture next to this entry). Once you have looked at the stone, return to tell Voldrick. He asks that soldiers be sent to secure the site. Once you do this, Vigil's Keep will have upgraded walls, and be better able to withstand assaults.
In addition to the experience (500 XP) for completing the quest, the granite will allow the walls of Vigil's Keep to be upgraded, making the keep better able to withstand an assault. Also, Herren's shop and the soldiers outside the keep get reset once again.
- If you gave Voldrik 80 gold pieces, you might not be able to bring back the granite sample because the dialog won't start. You then cannot complete the quest "What is Built Endures" and it remains in the current quests.
- Possible solution: Talk with Voldrik again after you give him the gold. Then, after you've found the granite mine, talk with him again and the quest will be completed.
- If you tell Voldrik to use what resources he has available when you find the granite deposits in the Wending Wood, you will not be able to report it back to him as he will not talk to you again. You then cannot complete the quest "What is Built Endures" and it remains in the current quests. This is not the case in the PC version
- If you give Voldrik 80 gold pieces, you won't get this quest at all (Voldrik won't talk to you about granite). This bug appears to be fixed as of the latest patch (1.04). If you pick up the granite before completing at least 1 of the three main plot line quests, Voldrik will appear to have a quest turn-in mark above his head, but you may not be able to complete the quest until at least one main plot quest has been completed (e.g. The Righteous Path in the silverite mine). An alternative is to use this mod.
