For other uses, see Runes (disambiguation).

Weapon runes can be applied to weapons that possess a rune slot, to provide permanent bonuses to that weapon's effects. They can be added by Sandal who is at the Merchant's Guild in Hightown in Act 1 and in the Hawke Estate in Acts 2 and 3. Unlike Origins, once used they can't be removed, only replaced with a new rune which destroys the previous one.

Notes Edit

  • Runes which add damage (e.g. Rune of Fire) add 20% of the weapons base damage rounded to the nearest integer. This damage is not modified by damage modifying talents and/or item properties.
  • Weapon runes with added elemental damage (including the Rune of Impact) can cause conflicts in the display of floating damage values when used in conjunction with bonus elemental damages from the Elemental Weapons spell, Deathroot Toxin, and/or the built-in bonus damage on select weapons, e.g. Red Grace and the Blade of Red Birth. It is unclear if the actual damage is affected or overwritten, but damage due to weapon runes supersedes all others in the heads-up display.
  • Weapons with two or more rune slots that use the same exact rune will combine their damage into a single displayed value. Weapons with different runes in each slot will display only the rune furthest down the weapon's Inventory "Inspect" page.
