Visit Anders is a companion quest in Dragon Age II's Act 2.

Walkthrough

Talk to Anders at his clinic in Darktown.

For maximum friendship choose the top-right option or romance option every time, except at the second choice; you will gain an extra +5 for either "How are you handling it?" or "I bet Justice loves it" instead of the romance option "I'll keep you safe". The initial question "Were they after you?" has no effect on friendship earned.

It seems if you've flirted with him previously an extra bit of dialogue will occur, with two flirt options and one rude one. The rude choice appears to earn +15 Rivalry, offset by however many friendship points you'd already earned. It also ends the conversation automatically. Choosing either flirt option, then ending the romance at the next opportunity will avoid the rivalry gain, with a greater friendship boost for "stay in control" than "you're so romantic".

Choosing either of the first two aggressive options during the main conversation will immediately end the conversation. The first aggressive option results in no approval change, with the second earning +15 rivalry, and the third +10 rivalry.

Rewards

  • Friendship Anders: friendship (+15) or Friendship Anders: friendship (+35) if you are romancing him. To gain the maximum amount of approval, choose the first two diplomatic responses, Friendship Anders: friendship (+5) a piece, and then the next two TOP flirtatious ones Friendship Anders: friendship (+10) for the first one and Friendship Anders: friendship (+15) for the 2nd, you get Friendship Anders: friendship (+10) for on the 2nd flirt if you pick the middle option.

Note: Some of the math may need checked on this, but that's my educated guesses. By simply choosing middle options first, and then picking the top 2 flirts I got Friendship Anders: friendship (+30), which means some of the middle options give Friendship Anders: friendship (+5). I've received Friendship Anders: friendship (+15) by picking the top diplomatic responses and then going all mid-choices after that, including flirts.

    • (PC 1.03) The second flirtatious response is bugged, giving the same dialogue and result as the second rude option, Rivalry Anders: rivalry (+15) [confirmation needed]
  • Rivalry Anders: rivalry (+15) via the second aggressive option, or Rivalry Anders: rivalry (+10) via the third, if you're not in a romance with Anders.
  • No change by choosing the first aggressive option.
  • If you've flirted with Anders previously and choose the rude option "You're losing control." from the bonus dialog you can gain up to Rivalry Anders: rivalry (+20) regardless of any other Friendship choices you have made earlier. This ends the conversation automatically.

Result

If you have previously flirted with Anders during the first companion quest in Act 1, during Act 2 "Talk to Anders" you can end the conversation with no consequences to rivalry or friendship, If you choose the aggressive option during the first dialogue sequence.
