And I'm guessing the mountains of offensive posts throughout this wiki that are just making moronic attacks on the creators are perfectly fine.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.224.111.191 (talk)
Those sort of comments are not okay either. I don't see every post, so if you (or any other editor) sees a post that goes against the code of conduct, please let me or another admin know so it can be dealt with.LoleilTalk 05:51, January 24, 2013 (UTC)
Hey i was wondering if you knew anything about how to code the interactive Maps for the Denerim and Kirkwall Articles?
The Kirkwall one only links to hightown and lowtown and all the other links aren't there and the Denerim one has all the links slightly right of the actual icon. -HD3 (talk) 05:56, January 24, 2013 (UTC)
I think the Denerim map got thrown off a bit when we moved to Oasis, but beyond that
I haven't really had much experience with the image map extension. There's a decent help page here if you want to have a go at it yourself. LoleilTalk 06:03, January 24, 2013 (UTC)
Hey Loleil! Sorry for bugging you that much, but now that D-day is gone I have to contact another admin for help or suggestions :P. Anyway, the most important purpose of categories to most wiki readers from what I understand is for them to find relevant results in the "See More" feature in the lower part of the page.
If that's the case then we need to divide characters/items/locations/etc in categories which are relevant to one another. In my opinion there are certain categories which are not really helping that cause. I could elaborate more if you are interested and agree with what I said above :) 12:46, January 24, 2013 (UTC)
No problems, it's like one admin in, another admin out! But I'm always happy to hear any ideas about improving the wiki. Please tell me more. LoleilTalk 23:44, January 24, 2013 (UTC)
I believe that the Lieutenant, Boss (and to a much lesser degree Elite Boss) categories are not helping in giving the readers related entries. I've seen many times that when a page was Lieutenant tagged the results below were totally irrelevant with the character in the page. I suggest removing them altogether. That's not difficult with the use of a bot. In addition, the aforementioned categories do not have any significant encyclopedic importance in order to have something which will be in favor of their maintainance. 01:59, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
Umm and I almost forgot, can you rename this pic to "Murder Knife - DAO.png" please? I made a type there T_T 02:11, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
As categories also exist to group together pages with similar traits, I don't have a problem with the boss categories. I think that rank is a notable feature (albeit a technical one, rather than a gameplay one). So right now I'd be neutral on their deletion, but by all means nominate the categories and we can see what people think.
And image now renamed. So annoying when that happens! LoleilTalk 04:09, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
I don't think categories should just list the notable features of the article question but also provide relevant sources to the reader. It is my opinion that most wiki readers do not seek to read relevant technical results of the character, item, codex entry or location in question but rather gameplay ones. Anyway do you think it's best to post this delete nomination to the wiki discussion since it's not just for one category? 10:27, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
I'm more interested in the in-game elements too, but I think it's quite feasible that a user might want to look at a list of all the different bosses. This actually makes me think they should be split into the different games if they're kept.
As to where to nominate them, I would do both. Write up a forum topic with your rationale and then nominate the category pages with a link to the forum. LoleilTalk 01:15, January 27, 2013 (UTC)
While I am recently working on the categories of dwarven related articles, some pages belong to two categories: Dwarven lore and Dwarven groups. And these pages are around 5-6 (including the newly made Kings and Queens of Orzammar). However in the See More feature below them, there are only certain pages that will be featured and never the article I just mentioned will ever be featured there (even if it has the same exact categories with the other ones).
So I am wondering if you know more about how the "See More" feature works and if we can do things in order to improve it's code. 17:01, January 31, 2013 (UTC)
To my knowledge, Wikia hasn't released much information about the inner workings of the read more feature, but I did just click through the dwarven lore pages and noticed Kings and Queens of Orzammar popping up in the read more section of Shaperate. Possibly it cycles through different pages on a daily basis? LoleilTalk 00:22, February 1, 2013 (UTC)
Ahh perhaps you are right. Also thanks for clarifying to me that this is a wikia-code and not a DA-wiki code which would mean that it could be tweaked :) Perhaps you might want to pass from the IRC or the chat a bit more often, I am starting to miss you! 00:37, February 1, 2013 (UTC)
You're welcome! I don't have the best internet connection at the moment so I've given up a few times, but I will see what I can do. LoleilTalk 00:48, February 1, 2013 (UTC)
The user "Milkman" has written a blog, here, which contains thinly veiled insults towards anyone who likes Dragon Age 2. Looking through the users blogs, I've found numerous more with personal attacks upon fans of DA2 and staff members of Bioware. His blogs are little more than whining about the game, in many cases making completely false statements in regards to the game--one would think that a wiki with such a wealth of information as this one would want to avoid its users spreading false information which contradicts what is stated on the mainspace. None of their blogs serve any purpose except to be troll magnets, drawing equally-hostile people and turning off DA2 fans. I don't see why they should be able to spam these ignorant blogs on the wiki. Clench (talk) 23:44, January 24, 2013 (UTC)
If you can't handle someone criticizing your sacred Dragon Age 2 and Bioware, then maybe you should just go crawl back under the rock you came from. Aleksandr the Great (talk) 23:48, January 24, 2013 (UTC)
And this is exactly the kind of people whom are cultivated by these ignorant, immature blogs: equally ignorant, immature people. I would like to see this wiki as a place of knowledge and a welcoming community, not where most users flock to the latest blog that has to lie in order to complain about DA2. Mind your own business. Clench (talk) 23:53, January 24, 2013 (UTC)
To be frank, this IS part of my business. You're actively trying to get a civil user with a different opinion than yours banned or some crap. This is most apparent with your "false statements" comment. Seriously, it's subjective opinion. THERE IS NO TRUE OR FALSE. Then you wave it off as nothing more than whining. You act like it's impossible that DA2 can be a subjectively bad game and see anyone stating these opinions as nothing more than trolls. You're just doing exactly what you're criticizing but on the opposite end of the spectrum. Aleksandr the Great (talk) 00:08, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
Excuse me, WHAT? Can you please point out to me some mistakes I've made? If anything is not factually correct, you can always contact me on my message wall or on the blog itself and I will edit it; don't go running to an admin to tell on me because I might have made a mistake, if I even did so. I'm trying to make constructive criticisms. I am in no way "trolling". I'm in no way insulting anyone. I am highly critical of Dragon Age II, yes, because I want them to improve. Don't tell me to cease and desist simply because you can't handle criticism or because you disagree with my opinion. In fact, if you have a differing opinion, you should feel free to write your own blog post in response to mine. Most of my blogs are me trying to objectively analyse the game as best as I can. If you have a different opinion, then please, comment on my blogs or make your own. That's the entire point of these features: to discuss, to analyse, to learn. As long as we do so civilly, I see no problem with that.
Also, I don't remember writing any insults. Could you quote me and explain how it could be construed as an insult? If I said anything along the lines of "if you like this game, you're an idiot!", then by all means, I'll edit my blog post. That's all it takes. Don't run to an admin. Go to the source.
Oh, and by the way, my last blog was pretty much me looking at some of the things BioWare did right, and how they can improve even more.
--The Milkman | Ialwaysdeliver. 00:23, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
(edit conflict)Aleksandr, telling someone to crawl under a rock is not productive at all. Please don't make any personal attacks when talking to or about other people.
Clench, I've read Milkman's blogs and I see no evidence of them insulting those who like Dragon Age: II. It is very clear that he is no great fan of the game, but what I see is a user who provides well thought out reasons for why he feels this way. This can make for a good blog as it allows for informed discussion from those on both sides of the fence. In fact I see that going on now in the blog you linked.
A comment such as "If there are any intelligent, integrous people left at BioWare, they'll jump ship now if they haven't already." is not the sort of thing I want to see, but I don't see anything that crosses a line. If you disagree with the opinions expressed in the blogs, feel free to state why you disagree. If you're are not interested in that, then I would suggest you avoid blogs as they are intended as a place where users can share their personal opinions. LoleilTalk 00:28, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
Sorry, I just get a bit peeved when people like this have the gall to blatantly insult others opinions and act like there's no possibility whatsoever that they're wrong. Aleksandr the Great (talk) 00:30, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
Well, my "If there are any intelligent, integrous people left at BioWare, they'll jump ship now if they haven't already." comment can definitely be called an insult, but that's more toward BioWare, their management, or simply the direction they're taking. I apologise if that offended you in any way; it simply comes from an increasing amount of cynicism. I know BioWare is full of talented people, which is why I try to focus on their works rather than fall into the ad hominem fallacy.
--The Milkman | Ialwaysdeliver. 00:42, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
Thank you both for the apologies. I understand that cynicism and emotions can creep in when editing and as long as it's not part of an ongoing pattern it's generally not a problem. LoleilTalk 01:08, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
I was wondering why the recipe template does not support the |location line unlike the item or character templates for example. Furthermore, there are several recipe articles which have this line within their template already. 11:56, January 26, 2013 (UTC)
Hmm looks like it is in the base template, it just didn't get carried over to the transformer. I will see if I can add it back in. LoleilTalk 01:15, January 27, 2013 (UTC)
I reverted that change, it broke every recipe page and anything else that refers to a recipe (vendors etc). Location will either have to go at the bottom, or every page that uses the template will have to be updated. Not a task I'd envy. Qesa (talk) 05:32, January 27, 2013 (UTC)
@Qesa, could you link me to some pages where adding the location would break the transformer? Thank you!
@Viktoria Landers, why does recipe template need a location field? Recipes can often be obtained from multiple sources and if we implemented a location field, it would be very hard to back-reference everything. -- tierrietalkcontr 05:41, January 27, 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for checking this out oh template master LoleilTalk 05:43, January 27, 2013 (UTC)
@Tierrie: Rune tracings, as well as high tier Herbalism and Poison recipes are barely found more than once or twice in the whole game. I might as well claim that the recipes which have more than two acquisition locations in the whole game are probably a small minority unlike several items which can be found or looted almost anywhere but still have a location row in their template in case it's needed. Anyway, regardless of what you decide, it's not really an important change as the acquisition information of each recipe is already included in the respective paragraph. 13:20, January 27, 2013 (UTC)
Tierrie, I would also like to add the possibility to turn the |voice in the character templates into a hyperlink to this page such as the item id is for the item templates. In fact I only recently became aware of this page and I am sure most of the other contributors are as well. 01:05, January 28, 2013 (UTC)
Have you seen how many people spread hate or their propagandas, when on forum are topics about mages, templars and chantries? There was a blog about trolls on forum. It makes me sick that people insult themselves simply because they disagree about fictional non existing things. To make this hate spreading decrease I go to older topics without mages, templars and chantries, so it could appear before these topics. Those people become fanatics, who lose sense of reality, they see those organisations as incarnations of real world groups and that's getting worse and worse. I hope you understand. 78.8.1.181 (talk) 08:02, January 31, 2013 (UTC)
Hi,
While feeling passionately about a subject can be a good thing, it's certainly not good when it leads to other people being insulting. I'm glad to hear that you plan on helping to create a positive community by starting new forum topics. LoleilTalk 00:22, February 1, 2013 (UTC)
There appeared another topic about mages and templars, more precisely about Grey wardens' role in their war. This topic will only increase numbers of aggresive insulting and trolling because of a fictional non existing matter. Fanatics mentioned by previous Anon will go to this topic and start again insulting those, who don't share their views on Mage-templar war.156.17.71.249 (talk) 12:40, February 2, 2013 (UTC)
I just read through that topic and don't see any objectionable behaviour. Hopefully it will continue that way. LoleilTalk 00:07, February 3, 2013 (UTC)
I said the trolling will appear not it had appeared. I saw how many trolling were on similar pages, so I'm suspicious and in my country is said "Never too much caution", if I translate it correct.62.87.248.145 (talk) 06:50, February 3, 2013 (UTC)
I know what what you were saying. I was just commenting that, as yet, your concerns remain unfounded for this topic. I know there has been a bit of unpleasant behaviour lately, but I try to remain optimistic and would encourage other editors to do so too. LoleilTalk 08:23, February 3, 2013 (UTC)
The little "auto-update" button on the Recent Wiki Activity page seems to be missing. It's been this way for a while now and it's getting frustrating to constantly have to reload in order to see the changes. I am just wondering if this is exclusive to me or if other people are experiencing this problem.--Legionwrex (talk) 06:25, February 3, 2013 (UTC)
Hi! The auto-update here works a little differently to the ME wiki's. To turn on auto-updates here go to your preferences, then the gadget section, then check the "Auto updates Special:RecentChanges" box. Hope this helps . LoleilTalk 08:23, February 3, 2013 (UTC)
Okay then. Thanks!--Legionwrex (talk) 15:34, February 3, 2013 (UTC)
The auto-update was a javascript hack that was put together and adopted by a few wikis. When The Vault (Nukapedia) moved over to the gadget system, I reviewed their modular system. As it was superior to the hacks that was being used here, I moved all our options over to the gadget system. :) -- tierrietalkcontr 06:55, February 5, 2013 (UTC)
Hey Loleil! I hope you are doing fine :) I got two questions for you.
Today, I noticed that an anon removed something from an article which is correct for no reason whatsover. He had done so in the past and I always reversed that. That isn't isolated since in another case there was another person who insisted on adding cyrilic on the Enchament page. I reversed his edits a few times but after a few days he had made the addition again without me noticing. What I am asking here is, what can we do in such cases. Follow the pages in order to receive notifications if something happens? Is there something more that we could do perhaps?
Addition: It seems I unintentionally followed over the year thousands of pages. Is there a way to untick all of them instead of doing it manually? - Nevermind found it :)
Also, what do you think of thisTrivia addition? I am not sure that it should be kept. 09:45, February 3, 2013 (UTC)
───────
By the way there is something wrong with the code in the Gems page and I can't find the reason why this happens. 12:06, February 3, 2013 (UTC)
Hey yourself! I am doing fine and hope you are too. .
It's always a bit tricky to judge whether some small removal of content is vandalism, a test, or a genuine effort to improve the wiki. If I notice an editor repeatedly removing information though, I try to leave a message explaining the problem and stating that if it continues it may be treated as vandalism. If it continues after that message I would generally issue a block.
Hmm I think that her relationship with the other characters is of some interest, though I don't know about the last point about her "inner innocence". It sounds a bit subjective so I would remove that.
With the gems page, it looks like the quartz page was missing one of the brackets around the style segment of its infobox.
I also wanted to tell you about Special:Unusedimages just in case there are any icons in there that you might need with your work on plot items. LoleilTalk 22:59, February 3, 2013 (UTC)
I tweaked a bit the edit on Merrill's page, thanks for your advice. As for the Unusedimages, I think it's quite impractical before you upload a picture to search 300 images of questionable quality (which might as well require a rename). So I'm not really sure that I'll regularly check this category. As for plot items, D-day said she was working on them, so I only do minor improvements here and there until she comes back. However it is true that currently the plot items require the most attention out of all DAO item pages.
Regarding the creature variations I think it would be for the best if the community reaches a consensus which will solve both the current disagreement but also the ones that will come. What do you think? 09:28, February 4, 2013 (UTC)
Heh, that aren't that many icons there! If you don't think there are any there you will use though, that's fine, just wanted to make sure you knew about it as a resource to save you uploading an icon already here.
I don't really feel strongly about the creature variations issue, but I tend to think it's fine to leave them in the main creature page (ie have the ethereal golem listed as a type of golem), but I would add the spirits category to the individual pages too. LoleilTalk 11:11, February 4, 2013 (UTC)
But the ethereal golem is not a variation of golems! If you dress up like a golem, would you also be considered as a variation of these creatures? Because this is what the ethereal golem really is. An imitation of the said creature. 11:56, February 4, 2013 (UTC)
If I looked like a golem, and sounded like a golem, then maybe . I know you're coming from an in-universe lore perspective, but for me there is enough of similarity to call it a sort of golem even though it wasn't made on the anvil. As I said above though, this isn't an issue I feel passionately about. LoleilTalk 00:03, February 5, 2013 (UTC)
Varterral a creation of Arlathani sorcerers. It has shape of spider, but technically it's a type of golem because it's a fade spirit trapped in mud and plants. Tevinter magisters with dwarves tried to create a golem from flesh of dead casteless by putting a fade spirit inside. Do you see similarities? I would call non-humanoidal golems like Varterral a gargoyle like are called statutes of demons and animals on cathedrals, but I don't work for Bioware, it would be a fanfic, because that's not an offical classification. Surely varterral is a spirit, maybe it's even connected to sylvans, the trees possessed by spirits corrupted or not. If elves rediscovered ritual of creating varterrals they would have equivalent of dwarven golems and would defeat even Tevinter, but that's not the topic. Back to topic what should decide of a type of creature, shape or substances it's made from?62.87.248.145 (talk) 18:51, February 3, 2013 (UTC) Just call me Dalish fan.
Presumably the affiliation was added due to the "spider like" part of the codex. I've now removed it. As to the broader issue, I don't know if it's possible to come up with a blanket rule. My initial feeling is that it's something that will have to be decided on a case-by-case basis, though possibly the forum discussion about creature variations can come to some sort of resolution. LoleilTalk 06:34, February 4, 2013 (UTC)
I saw page Ages was edited but there is no mention of events of DA:Calling. I don't know when happened this adventure of Maric, Duncan and Fiona with Architect. Maybe you know something more. If you do, then please put some info there. All I'm sure action of the book takes place between 9:00 and 9:30.78.8.133.6 (talk) 13:17, February 4, 2013 (UTC)
I have an idea that the events of The Calling take place around 9:13 Dragon. I will see if I can find some sources and add it in. LoleilTalk 00:03, February 5, 2013 (UTC)
Hey Loleil, I updated some shield images with more accurate ones so the old ones are not needed anymore. These are:

Thanks! 08:00, February 5, 2013 (UTC)
No problems, but was there any reason you didn't use the "Upload a new version of this file" option? LoleilTalk 23:10, February 5, 2013 (UTC)
Yes, they were .jpg format and lately I started exclusively using the .png for higher picture quality. 02:51, February 6, 2013 (UTC)
I'll update another pictures within the next few hours so it would be grand if you could delete this one too:
File:Mythal's_Blessing.jpg
I hope the lack of reply before means that you were okay with the explanation that I provided :P 00:47, February 7, 2013 (UTC)
Haha, I could have sworn I replied "Gotcha!", but yes, it's all good . LoleilTalk 01:00, February 7, 2013 (UTC)
Good evening, Loleil! You didn't delete the last picture I sent you and because I fully updated all the shields in Dragon Age: Origins and Awakening, I'd like to report two more of mine for deletion. These are:
200.253.158.131 delated whole text of forum, that's unacceptable. Please, undo his actions and block him. I can hate some topics, but I don't delate them, I try to put arguments to close the case, I don't delate texts of others. And on top of it, they think they can delete stuff from admins' talk pages and no-one will notice. I've reverted the deletion on your and D-day's talk page. --Ygrain (talk) 21:07, February 6, 2013 (UTC)

Hey Loleil! I hope you won't mind me asking you to hop in the IRC again. Great work with asking VSTF for help too :-) 01:56, February 23, 2013 (UTC)
Not sure if you're still about, but I'm now on the chat and will aim to be on again tomorrow if I don't catch you today. LoleilTalk 05:31, February 23, 2013 (UTC)
I forgot to ask in my previous pm, but if you noticed, wikia has changed the way categories are being entered into the articles. Right now I want to add an article into a category but I don't want this article to be listed in an alphabetical order, but rather be listed as the first or "unsorted" if you prefer it that way. For example: like the Dwarves page when it is listed in the Category:Dwarves.
Thanks in advance! 02:37, February 15, 2013 (UTC)
Hi Viktoria!
I'm away on holiday this week, but I shall check it out once I get back . LoleilTalk 04:46, February 15, 2013 (UTC)
Ah, take your time Loleil. I hope you'll have a good time in your holidays! By the way, I also made a reply on "Image deletions" section of your talk page in case you hadn't noticed. See ya! 08:46, February 15, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, I had a great time . My first thought on how to add an unsorted category in the new system would be just to add it as you would have before the categories module was added. So, to use the dwarves example, go to the bottom of the page and write . Given that categories (unsorted or not) can still be added in the source mode, hopefully this will do the trick. LoleilTalk 23:31, February 20, 2013 (UTC)
Many thanks! I thought about it but I didn't want to start experimenting (by the way the "nowiki" part is not needed) xD It's also good to hear that you had a great week, probably that's why you got back to us on Thursday instead of Monday, haha! By the way Nic, you might want to voice your opinion in this talk page as the matter is rather important and could set a precedent for similar things in the future. 09:11, February 21, 2013 (UTC)
Hehe old habits with the nowiki, and I did have to take an extra day off to sleep . Now off to check out the talk page! LoleilTalk 23:48, February 21, 2013 (UTC)
Hello, I made a new topic on forum, but there was one minor information with no source. Because of this some users declared they won't involve in "baseless speculations". Do administrator allow creator of the topic to correct or remove lines in 1st acapite? I ask because I don't want anything like this anymore? It's a minor information, not a main part of the topic.78.8.1.133 (talk) 21:51, February 24, 2013 (UTC)
Hi there.
You are allowed to edit your own comments, though you need to be careful if you want to change its meaning as it can make others' replies to your original comment appear confusing. If do you want to remove or correct information, just make sure to acknowledge the original content in some way. A strike-through can often work well for this. LoleilTalk 03:39, February 25, 2013 (UTC)

Some time ago I warned about trolling and repetetive expression of propaganda of anarchy and insulting real world things like religion and comparing to evil historical events, organistaion and characters when appears a new topic about mages and templars. On youtube some people compared the Chantry and templars to Nazi, that's terryfying delusion and the same happens on DA forums. This is a new topic about this Forum:Mage/Templar Hate?. Again people will say they hate one of the side of conflict and express again how anarchistsic and extreme they are, such topics provoke people not only to trolling but also to propaganda of their anarchistic visions. I did all I could by making new topics to divert attention from mage templar case and decrease those propaganda, but for 2 years players are bound to this topic and don't acknowladge anything else, when there are hundreds of topics to discuss. 62.87.147.163 (talk) 07:48, February 26, 2013 (UTC)
I couldn't help but think about Godwin's law after your remark about the YouTube comments . I would encourage you to continue making topics that interest you, but as one of the major elements of the Dragon Age universe people are going to continue to want to talk about the mage and templar conflict. As long as editors abide by DA:CONDUCT and DA:FORUM in these discussions I don't see a problem. LoleilTalk 00:24, February 27, 2013 (UTC)

Hello! I'm humbly asking you to turn your attention to these articles: Her Song, Blade of Mercy (unrestricted), The Brothers' End and Lion of Orlais Shield:) I've added some pictures to the the respective galleries and I wanted to know your opinion whether they deserve to substitute the main pictures of said articles. I believe that especially in the first three cases the current main pictures do not represent items well enough in terms of proportion to a character's body, or to put it simply, the size of items. What do you think?
Also, I wanted a consultation about gloves, if I may. I want to make several screenshots of DA2 gloves, as this category seems to be lacking many pictures, but I am not sure about the style. Should I stick with existing "standard" of depicting gloves like in Alchemist's Protective Handguards article, or use a more simple depiction as in, say, Warden Scout's Gloves article? Thank you in advance. -Algol- (talk) 15:18, March 2, 2013 (UTC)
Glad to see you're going to continue helping out with the images! For Her Song and The Brothers' End, I believe that the lighting on the images and the lack of scale would warrant a change of picture. For the Lion of Orlais, I feel it's more accurate to use a actual picture rather than concept art so I would go ahead and change that one too. However, for the Blade of Mercy I feel that the images are quite similar in quality. As we encourage editors not to change pictures unless there is something wrong (see DA:IMAGE) I would leave that one as is.
For the gloves, both styles are acceptable, but I would suggest you use the same style as the Alchemist's Protective Handguards as I believe it is more illustrative. And you're welcome LoleilTalk 23:53, March 2, 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for your input. I've spoken with Tierrie yesterday about this issue and he particularly stressed that styles of pictures need to be consistent. For instance, now we seem to have three different standards of depicting various items. For two-handed DA2 weapons those would be:
...And I am not sure which of them is the standard to use in order to maintain consistency :) Pretty much the same problem occurs with staves. For instance, Bloodline (Legacy) has one style of picture as main, a different one in the gallery and, say, Torch of Falon'Din offers a third different style. I am at a loss. Could we, perhaps, turn the attention of our editors to this problem and decide which style of pictures goes as main and which one is better suited for Galleries?
And as for gloves, I'll try to do my best using Alchemist's Protective Handguards style as an example.
P.S. I haven't changed the pictures in articles I mentioned before as I'd like to wait until this problem with consistency will be resolved in some way. -Algol- (talk) 14:39, March 3, 2013 (UTC)
The glove pics are looking great! We've never set a standard style for our weapon images. To-date, the general ethos has been that any picture is better than no picture. If we are going to implement a set style, I think this is something that would benefit from some community input. So I would suggest that you start a forum discussion to discuss what sort of style the community wants to see. LoleilTalk 05:32, March 4, 2013 (UTC)
Thank you :) I will be focusing on gloves for now, as this category seems to be lacking pictures the most of all, and also I started a forum about the whole "styles problem". -Algol- (talk) 13:57, March 4, 2013 (UTC)
Good stuff. I've added my two cents, but don't forget to say what style you support yourself . LoleilTalk 00:11, March 5, 2013 (UTC)
Hey Loleil! As I was working on Shale-related items and item sets, I noticed that the categories involving the Dragon Age items are really messed up. Mostly the Origins version of course. I have created a merge candidate already, but that's not enough of course.
Considering that the Dragon Age III will come out in a few months, I believe it is imperative to have a strict, easy-to-navigate and simple category network for the Dragon Age items which will work as the base for the DA:I related content. Please let me know your thoughts about it :) 16:01, March 2, 2013 (UTC)
Having a look at the category tree I agree that it needs a bit of work. I think the basic category structure of Category:Dragon Age II items works fine, but it does appears that there are a few categories scattered about that missed the big move from the wiki just being about Origins. I will have a bit of a look and see if I can come up with a formal plan on how to address this, though if you already have one I'm happy to read it. LoleilTalk 23:53, March 2, 2013 (UTC)
Where I can see the category tree by the way? :P 05:38, March 3, 2013 (UTC)
- Found it, it wasn't so hard it seems xD 16:45, March 3, 2013 (UTC)
Alrightey, I got a bunch of stuff for you (again!)
How do I add a category to the images I upload without having to edit the image page after I upload it?
The text which is generated by the Bioware image template, should extend it's reference to Dragon Age II and III.
I took a look in the category tree and my move candidate will do the trick on that point. Furthermore, in the Equipment tree there is an Awakening section which needs to be split as well. Lastly, the Leliana' Song items category is not needed so I'll move change the items' category and nominate for deletion that category. Anything else that you noticed, perhaps?
I also spoke with Tierrie and I'll prepare my revision tomorrow to send it to you by e-mail.
Take care! 01:06, March 5, 2013 (UTC)
Heh fixing up the image categories is on my to-do list too. So to add a category to an image at the time of upload you just add the category link in the summary box.
Agreed. I will see if I can dig up where that text is stored and update it.
My main feeling was that there were several pages that weren't categorised correctly. I will see if I can tidy those up and see if anything else becomes apparent to me.
Tierrie had mentioned that he spoke to you and I can't wait to see the results.
Have a great day and/or night! LoleilTalk 03:37, March 5, 2013 (UTC)
Damn, I didn't have much time these days (regarding the email and stuff). As for the pictures, don't worry, I just categorized mostly pictures which were uploaded by me in the past. There are some hundreds which are unsorted however and I'll gladly help you in sorting them out. I just want to note here that the precedent is that character pictures also receive a "screenshot" category in addition to the character images one :-)
I also want to ask how exactly these pages are considered to be dead-end. Also why these pages are considered to be uncategorized while the few that I checked have indeed a category. Thanks in advance! 11:27, March 6, 2013 (UTC)
Edit: I also discovered that the Bioware wiki is mentioning things which are opposing the in-game lore. Namely, Mandar Dace is mentioned to by Lord Anwer Dace's son while in-game it is mentioned multiple times that he is Lord Dace's son. Furthermore a codex entry mentions that Jerrik is a cousin to Lord Anwer but the Bioware wiki says that he is a nephew to Lord Anwer. Obviously one position should be mentioned as the "official" one while the other should be mentioned in a note. My question is, which one to pick.
As for adding the categories in the summary, the problem is that it creates an empty == Summary == paragraph to the file content. 11:58, March 6, 2013 (UTC)
Edit 2: I'd also like to propose before DA3 hits to delete all unused images of the wiki for maintenance. 18:24, March 6, 2013 (UTC)
Image cats: My plan for image categories is basically to split them up a bit more so we don't have thousands of images all lumped into "Game-name screenshots". So continuing on from the location category, adding ones for quests, creatures, weapons and armor. I wouldn't be surprised if there were other ones that need creating too.
Special pages: I'm not sure what's causing those pages to be displayed myself. I can only assume that the switch to the new categories system has caused some sort of issue with those pages. For the dead-end pages, I'm at a loss.
BioWare wiki: I think that in-game lore has to trump any other source. However, it might be worth mentioning any contradictions in a notes section.
Summary heading: Ideally you should also be adding a brief description of the image you're uploading. This would fill the summary heading.
Unused images: I've been working on clearing out the unused images, but it's a slow process. LoleilTalk 03:39, March 7, 2013 (UTC)
I'll create these categories and split the files. I see that you created an image cat for Leliana's song DLC so I won't touch this section as you are working on it. Wish me good luck! :P Oh and I'd like to ask before I begin if you want the screenshots category of character images to be removed as well. 09:07, March 7, 2013 (UTC)
Update: I have created categories for objects, creatures, weapons and armors but not quests because I feel there will be conflicts and controversy since quest images may feature a location image or a character(s) image at the same time. Feel free to create one if you feel differently, however. 18:30, March 7, 2013 (UTC)
Even though it requires extra work, I think it would be neater to remove the screenshots category too. If we're going to do this, let's do it right!
Given you've created the categories, would you like to work on the Origins images? And good luck! I think we're both going to need it. LoleilTalk 03:58, March 8, 2013 (UTC)
Hey Loleil! I have sent the e-mail to BioWare. Also it would be grand when you have some available time to come in the IRC for a little chat regarding some stuff about categories and about Project Aeducan II. Cheers! 12:52, March 8, 2013 (UTC)
Great! And I will see if I can spend some time on the IRC. LoleilTalk 22:56, March 8, 2013 (UTC)
Hopefully I'll manage to see you this night (morning for you) as the weekend is almost over xD By the way I should mention that the Bioware image should also be extended in Redemption, Dawn of the Seeker and Warden's Fall images. 19:09, March 10, 2013 (UTC)
Edit: It is very usual that after editing a page, all categories of that page are being lost for no particular reason. Just thought it be important to report it to you. 12:05, March 11, 2013 (UTC)
Heh I didn't make it on yesterday, but I'll keep trying ;). For the licensing, I'm not convinced that that the BioWare fair use license is correct for all those images. For Dawn of the Seeker I think a new Funimation template (in the style of the ones used for the comics) would be the way to go and as they weren't officially made by BioWare, I feel that Warden's Fall and Redemption fall under the generic fair use license more than they do the BioWare fair use. For the disappearing categories, if it keeps happening I would report it to Wikia. LoleilTalk 00:38, March 12, 2013 (UTC)
Hey Loleil I created an item set images category on DAO, DAOA and DA2. I am informing you about this in order to direct the respective images to the right category ;-) 13:09, March 14, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for keeping me informed . LoleilTalk 22:38, March 14, 2013 (UTC)
(To Hawke about himself, Act I) "I was in the Circle Tower in Ferelden when Uldred summoned his demons. I was held in a cage for... I can't even say. Weeks? Months? It was one unending nightmare. I watched... what those mages did, what they became. I would gladly give my life to avoid seeing that again."
at the page Cullen? It is no double post since the other quote with Uldred is about Templar trust generally and this one about Cullen's personal experience in that cage.
Thanks.
--Kendira (talk) 05:05, March 6, 2013 (UTC)
Hi,
As I've said in my edit summaries, per DA:QUOTE characters who appear in more than one game can have no more than 15 quotes. I removed that particular one because, while not identical, it is very similar in meaning to "I was at the Circle Tower in Ferelden during the Blight. I saw firsthand how templar's trust and leniency can be rewarded. I still have nightmares of Uldred's depravities." LoleilTalk 05:11, March 6, 2013 (UTC)
Hi,
thanks for your reply. Have missed that comment. What a pity that there are only 15 quotes allowed. Might there be a way to add something like the dialogue pages for the companions for main characters such as Cullen?
Thanks.--Kendira (talk) 05:34, March 6, 2013 (UTC)
No problems! Right now only companions get their own dialogue page and I think it works well that way. However, if we get main characters appearing in 3 games (and I'm sure at least Flemeth will) I think we can look at giving them dedicated dialogue pages too. LoleilTalk 05:43, March 6, 2013 (UTC)
The title is only poetic. On page about the Legion of Dead are menitioned the Silent Sisters as a different version of them. I think there are 2 different organisations like Andrastian and Imperial Chantry or templars and seekers. This info should be on page of the sisters rather than Legion, they never were parts same organisastion, that's why I think that note should be ereased, but I need to know if only I think that way. I ask you to consider this and reply.62.87.248.148 (talk) 11:29, March 8, 2013 (UTC)Just call me Dalish fan.
It's a very poetic title indeed! However, I'm not sure I can find the information you are referring to. I can't see any mention of the Silent Sisters on Legion of the Dead. The only other group I see is the Rock-Knockers. Are you able to provide a quote and link to the information that is troubling you? LoleilTalk 22:56, March 8, 2013 (UTC)
Sorry then, I must read it wrongly or had a halucination. This info I thought was real isn't even in history of the page. I'm sorry again for this unfortunate thing.62.87.248.148 (talk) 00:08, March 9, 2013 (UTC)
Nick Gallen created a topic on forum but delated texts of others. Being a maker of the topic gives no right to delate texts of others. The forum topic is Forum:Dragon Age 3 ideas. Hey Loleil, I am sorry for my frequent messages, but there is a red link in the main page which needs to be removed. Unfortunately I cannot edit that part. I also sent the two bug reports to wikia and hopefully by Tuesday a reply would come back. I hope you are doing well, take care! 22:41, March 15, 2013 (UTC)
It's all good, I will go update the link and fingers crossed for some fixes! LoleilTalk 05:56, March 16, 2013 (UTC)
There are lots of mage robes and clothings and the "armor image" category seems to be a very bad term to describe clothing. Do you think that we should create a clothing image category or rename the existing armor image category in order to contain clothing too?
Also I am not sure if someone can help me, but you're likely my best bet. I used to solely work in the wiki (for months) on Google Chrome, suddenly 15 days ago, it stopped showing many wiki images, as well as the chat and it couldn't load the wiki editor. As the other chrome users of the chat didn't have that problem, I moved to Opera until the problem with chrome is somehow fixed. Yesterday night Chrome was working again, but today both Chrome and Opera produces the problems I described before. So now I had to move to Internet Explorer. Do you have any idea and/or tips to give me in order to help me? I have already started a full virus scan on my computer and afterwards I plan to re-install Chrome in case that makes it work. Also these issues with the browsers have happened only in the wiki and nowhere else. Thanks in advance! 16:01, March 16, 2013 (UTC)
Armour can be defined as any sort of defensive coverings, so I think mage robes (with their fancy defensive stats) certainly fit in that category. However, I agree that the purely decorative clothing can't really be called armour. Because of that, I'd support a new category for those images and wouldn't mind if the mage robes are added in there too.
I'm afraid I have no ideas on what could be causing that or how to fix it, but I hope you can sort it out soon! LoleilTalk 00:45, March 17, 2013 (UTC)
Hey Loleil, can't we create a license for IGN images to be used on such as the one you removed from the Destiny trailer a day back? It is my impression that the same legal system we use in Bioware and Dark Horse images can easily be applied in this case, as well. 16:00, March 17, 2013 (UTC)
As for the clothing categories, I created them, but only for Origins and Awakening since the DA2 mage clothing is labelled as "light armor". 18:20, March 17, 2013 (UTC)
I've noticed when the bug takes place and a page loses it's categories. It happens when I swift a category from one place to another. Unfortunately I have not mentioned this in my bug report, however I plan to do so, when they respond back to me. Cheers! 22:55, March 17, 2013 (UTC)
Hey Loleil, I think some images require a rename in order to be easily found. I am referring to several developer images of the Category:Real world images as well as the gem file in that category to be renamed to "Fluorite". Furthermore, the File:Lololol.jpg to be renamed to "The Golden Prince's Raiment". Extras: The File:Hindsight.jpg to be renamed to "Thaulid Hammerspur". Finally, the File:Qunari Warcamp.jpg to be renamed to "Akhaaz". Thanks! (please let me know when you do this - cause some of these files are being used on the wiki and their link should be changed after their rename) 00:58, March 18, 2013 (UTC)
Phew, you've been busy!
IGN license: I'm not sure we have enough images from IGN to justify creating a new license for them. Even if we did, I'm not 100% sure the copyright is held by them. I think a strong case could be made that BioWare holds the copyright for any Dragon Age images used on IGN. In instances where the copyright is unclear, I think the generic fairuse license is the best choice.
Bug report: Sounds like there is definitely something happening on the Wikia side of things. With any luck they'll have a solution.
File renaming: When I can, I shall have a look through that cat, and fix up the images you mentioned. I've got a busy couple of days coming up, so it might take a little time.
Keep up the good work. . LoleilTalk 01:16, March 19, 2013 (UTC)
In addition to the previous files, this one also needs a better name. 20:55, April 15, 2013 (UTC)
You made categories of noble caste, warrior caste etc for dwarves. I plan to do something similar for qunari. The qunari under Arishok's command and he himself are part of Antaam, so I suggest to make category Antaam for them. Still we don't know how do qunari call mind and soul of their society. We have to few information, but I suggest to make such categories real, when we have more. Right now I'm spredding this idea.78.8.7.125 (talk) 09:17, March 18, 2013 (UTC)
I agree that we're a bit short on information right now, but I support adding extra categories for the qunari when we know more. LoleilTalk 01:16, March 19, 2013 (UTC)
File:Wyvern concept art.jpg as it is a duplicate of File:Wyvern2.jpg - and I think it would be a good idea to rename the one kept to concept art so that it'd be easier to find and so on. :)
Dragon Age: Until We Sleep is released. There should be a spoiler picture. I suggest to use Varric from 1st cover page. I sent the suggestion to King Cousland already.78.8.136.235 (talk) 07:35, March 28, 2013 (UTC) Just call me Dalish fan.
I'm Jorge and I am on Wikia's Community Development Team. So, I'm sure you're a busy person and all that, but I wanted to contact you and some other trusted users about a potentially cool opportunity. I know it's a little vague, but we're bound by secrecy.
Anyway, Wikia is working closely with game and entertainment creators/folk and, based on your active participation all over Wikia, we thought you'd be a great contributor. Are you open to working with us and other Wikia Community members in coming up with ideas for our programs? You'd be invited to join developer round-tables, co-author quizzes and other content, and maybe be invited to the Wikia offices in June (we would fly you out of course).
I know it's pretty vague, but I think it's a cool opportunity. If you're interested, are 18 or over, think you can be free to travel around late may to early June, can commit to some cool stuff this summer, and feel comfortable signing an Non-Disclosure Agreement and all that, then I can put you on our list of interested folk and we can be in touch with more details in the future.
Anyway, let me know when you can by shooting me an email to jorge[at]]wikia-inc.com. Jorge (profile)•(talk) 21:12, April 8, 2013 (UTC)
Will page of DA3 protagonist appear after E3 reveals this one in treasers or trailers? I know we have so few informatations, but we know this playable character will be a human afflicated to the Inquisition. I'm not impatient, I simply ask.
P.S Can I create category Dragon Age 3? It's just a matter of time and we know mages, templars, seekers and Cassandra will appear there, so we have pages to add this category. I simply ask. I can accept rejection with no problem.

I've noticed that before I log in, the wiki shows information from the previous day. Ie. if I press wiki activty or recent changes, I'll see only yesterday's changes and when there is a countdown in the main page about an upcoming release, the counter will be show one extra day while unlogged.
In close inspection the book-related spoiler templates have some issues near where the spoiler image is connected to them. Can you notice it too? If so, Tierrie is responsible for fixing it? 15:16, April 25, 2013 (UTC)
Hey Loleil, I want to move King Calenhad page to "King Calenhad Theirin" but the wiki does not allow me to do so. Can you delete the redirect in order to make it happen? Thanks! 20:54, May 19, 2013 (UTC)
Hey Loleil. Im sorry to bring this to you, but im not sure if Tierrie will be able to get around to it. But this guy on the forums is going out of his way to claim i called him insane because i used "pathological" as an adjective and then when i tried to explain by explicitly stating that was not my intention, he started threatening me with legal action. Could you help please? -HD3 (talk) 09:32, May 4, 2013 (UTC)
I made started a topic "Pics only from same game" on talk page of Companions(DA2). I think if specializations have images form DA2, rest of images (class and romance option) should also come from DA2. It's about purity of style. I even made a prototype for show. I invite you to discussion about it.78.9.145.132 (talk) 21:52, May 5, 2013 (UTC)
Maybe I'm sensitive, but the fragent about the religion sounds controversially. I see there a propaganda. By saying this he tells people to abandon their religions. He has no right to enforce this by spreading this propaganda. Doesn't matter what my religion is, I'm tolerant, but insulting other believes is wrong.
378.8.129.7 (talk) 18:29, May 6, 2013 (UTC)
Guy, the person in question is talking about the religions of the world of Dragon Age. This is no matter for the admins, even if does offend you (I don't see how it could, anyway). If you have a minor problem with another user, approach the user. Don't go reporting everyone to the admins. Jeez. Henio0 (talk) 18:39, May 6, 2013 (UTC)
He wrote "and religion (western or eastern) is the cause of all worldly problems", that's about real world religions. That's an insult for other cultures. One singer insulted other religion insitiution by calling it a murderous organistaion and it's book a piece of lies. He was imprisoned for this public insults. That case isn't so different. Insulting religions cannot be tolerated.78.8.129.7 (talk) 18:52, May 6, 2013 (UTC)
Yes, the western and eastern, or basically two oposing each other. The Qun and the Chantry. You quote a part of the sentence, which is out of context and in favour to your case. It goes, "It's like all they [the writers] care about as of late is (...) religion (western or eastern) is the cause of all worldly problems."Henio0 (talk) 19:03, May 6, 2013 (UTC) Anyway, I've said all I had on the matter, and will not reply you further, as this is not my talk page. Contact me privately if you wish otherwise. Henio0 (talk) 19:09, May 6, 2013 (UTC)
I hate when people use propagandas, because they make viewers who bought this agressive and mean to those, who didn't buy it. Every time a topic about mages/templars/chantry apeears, there is another spreading of hatemongering and warmongering propagandas. That makes vierwers violent, that's why so often I say authors of comments to stop spreading their propagandas. I want people to not spread their hatemongery, no matter towards which side. I don't want the forum to turn into another battlefield of trolls. Showing own views is one thing and using propaganda for hatemongery is other thing.78.8.140.88 (talk) 07:27, May 11, 2013 (UTC)
I see that you feel very strongly about about discussions involving the mage/templar issue, but generally I would not categorize the forums as "violent", nor do I see any evidence of "hate-mongering". If you don't enjoy those discussions, I would suggest staying away from them. LoleilTalk 17:59, May 12, 2013 (UTC)
I said destroying relics is a 1st step to war against a religion, a wikia contributors 88.113.93.206 wrote about Tevinter "at least they're not all brainwashed zealots on a holy mission", comparing it to the qunari and propably templars. BladedOcelot wrote "I'd rather see the rise of a true magocracy and the prevalence of a stricter, more scientific society, rather than the superstitious Chantry-controlled one we have in most places now", that's what I see as a propaganda against the Chantry, that's also off topic, because the topic isn't about the Chantry. I see that as spreading hate for this organisation, that's hate-mongery. Maybe you don't see it like this, but I do see it as 1st steps to spreading worse things. I don't mind what fictional organisation is insulted, I care only about people using emotional words which make other wikia contributors agressive. I don't want forum to increase people's deeply hidden war instincts, that's why I remind people about calming down by this. I noted your suggestion, but I can't sit and watch, when people fight on forum instead of discussing. Fight is when they use emotional words and begin to insult each other and I see the former as 1st steps to the letter. I experienced such situations in real life, that's why I think that.78.8.140.88 (talk) 18:18, May 12, 2013 (UTC)

Calling someone a village idiot is certainly not conducive to a positive forum environment, but neither is characterizing members of the forum as "fanatical hatemongers" or implying that a user should feel ashamed for having a point of view that differs from your own. I don't imply users to be ashamed of their point of view, I simply try to calm them down and make them still. May they show their opinions, but not in way that increases agression by used words. That's a cultrual forum and it should remain it. My goal isn't silenting people, but calming them and keeping polite and often that's hard. I care about order because I don't want people to become violent and trolls next, so I tell them of being calm by reminding them their aggresive baheavior. You can question my methods, but I saw peacemakers, who prefer to end wars by also using violance instead of reminding of being polite. 78.8.140.88 (talk) 18:24, May 12, 2013 (UTC)
Just look at this:
5. Even if I don't like Milkman, I have to report this vandalism.78.8.140.88 (talk) 13:03, May 12, 2013 (UTC) Just call me Dalish fan.
Thank you for looking out for the wiki. LoleilTalk 17:59, May 12, 2013 (UTC)

Sigh. It's the same pathetic troll who's been trying to get attention on a bunch of other wikis. He's really butthurt after my Mass Effect Retrospective. ;)

Hi, thanks for the welcome. I have a pretty extensive knowledge of the DA codex entries for Origins, II and the DLC packages. I also like to think I have a decent handle on magic, the use of and history of the Templar order. If any of those sections need attention, just let me know and I'll see what I can do. I have had problems with other admins on other wikis. Please try not to invoke my temper and I shall try to do the same. Draven Mephilés of Faerûn (talk) 06:04, May 17, 2013 (UTC)
What was sent to you was a welcoming automated message. I'm not sure why you would be angry with such a message but threats are not something that we are fond of. Oh and I tweaked some of your latest edits. 13:00, May 17, 2013 (UTC)
Just wanted to let you know that I'm working on the game guide app for this site. As such, there's a possibly I'll need to tweak categories here and there so things show up proper on a mobile device :) Any questions, just send me a shout. Should be finished in about an hour.

All looks fine. Thanks for letting me know. LoleilTalk 22:05, May 18, 2013 (UTC)
I don't know if people are allowed to insult each other in messages, but I report this just in case. 7
It's irony I report an act of insulting towards my most hated opponent, but breaking rules can't be tolerated.

Yes, making death threats is certainly not okay and that use has been blocked. LoleilTalk 22:05, May 18, 2013 (UTC)
