(moved by Friendship smallLoleil Talk 02:05, April 23, 2010 (UTC)) Great Bears are the best things a ranger can summon.

That is one opinion and not necessarily true. While it is true that the Great Bear is the best tank pet that a Ranger can summon; this doesn’t make it the best by any means. To be honest all of the Master Ranger pets are equally as good. It depends on your play style. The Blight Wolf attacks far faster than the bear and its group de-buff skill helps keeps crowds under control. While the spider is great for archers as it can attack from a distance as well, and makes for a great body guard. So stating something as opinion based as “Great Bears are the best things a ranger can summon” is incorrect and should in no way be perceived as ‘fact’ by players new to the game or this Wiki. 129.252.69.25 19:47, April 21, 2010 (UTC)

Location (Inquisition)[]

In the summary it says "The Hinterlands, Emerald Graves, Storm Coast" (plus locations from other games), but in the locations section it says "Emprise du Lion" and "Emerald Graves". I have searched all over Emprise du Lion (with a new character) and haven't found a single one. On the other hand, I know for sure, that there is a quest in the Hinterlands, that involve 3, therefore the information in the summary seems to be the correct one, while the information in the locations section seems to be incorrect/incomplete. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.146.193.216 (talkcontribs)

Thanks for pointing it out, looks like it might have been an oversight, I went ahead and made the correction. Take care. --Zj24 (talk) 02:50, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
It's been a while but I remember fighting a great bear in Emprise du Lion, somewhere towards the frozen lake in the northwest. Did you have the Grizzly End trial turned on when you searched Emprise du Lion? Our trial article specifically mentions that only great bears found in the Emeral Graves and Emprise du Lion count towards the achievement. I think it's required to trigger the bears' presence. Yes, that is why I was looking for great bears. It is possible, that spawn rare in Emprise du Lion is so low, that I simply didn't get a spawn. I will take another look around. 5.146.193.216 (talk) 04:29, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
Ok, after 2 hours running around the frozen lake in Emprise du Lion I had ONE great bear spawning! So yes, you can have great bears there, but at least for me, the spawn rate was atrocious! In Emerald Graves, I could consistently spawn one within a couple of minutes after I defeated one. 5.146.193.216 (talk) 05:41, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
Yeah there's definitely fewer bears than in the Emerald Graves. Thanks for testing it out, I'll add it back on the page. Evamitchelle (talk) 06:29, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
I have also added the quest in the Hinterlands to the involvement section. 5.146.193.216 (talk) 07:40, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
Just came across a Great bear in the Emprise as well randomly running around. --Zj24 (talk) 22:38, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
Going back to the original location question, I think that the Storm Coast & Hinterlands bears are not Great Bears, which would be in line with the achievement requirements and the codex entry. Henio0 already confirmed that the Hinterlands bears are Large Bears and I think the same goes for the Storm Coast bears. Evamitchelle (talk) 02:41, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
If the bears on the Coast are not great bears the page should be adjusted accordingly. I'll have time this weekend to explore the area. But if you're confident Evamitchelle I would just go ahead and make the proper adjustments. --Zj24 (talk) 00:03, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
