I disagree with that reasoning. It is said she can be a romance and may become a major player in the game. Even if she is minor she still is a companion and people will be looking for infor in her. To remove her would be doing a disservace to the whole wiki.--IceStar100 (talk) 22:37, September 27, 2010 (UTC)

Lets not overdramatize this. Who is this character? Is she in DA2? What's the story here? -- tierrie talk contr 22:39, September 27, 2010 (UTC)

She is in DA 2. She is the templar Wesley wife and a warrior in her own right. From interviews she is met defending her injured husband. She is also a possible love intrest and traveling companion.--IceStar100 (talk) 22:43, September 27, 2010 (UTC)

Sounds good. I'll remove the delete tag. -- tierrie talk contr 22:53, September 27, 2010 (UTC)

Wow[]

Do we even wait until the mans body is cold or is there a renagade/fool option that will go "well, I guess that makes you avaliable", Or would it be more along the lines of consoling then frienship then relationship hopefully the latter.--Gdubs (talk) 23:10, September 27, 2010 (UTC)

Her husband can die and so can your brother can to depending on your actions. I hope there an option to sleep with her on his dead body. make it a 3 way.--IceStar100 (talk) 00:37, September 28, 2010 (UTC)

[Dead serious] Why would you write that?--Gdubs (talk) 01:07, September 28, 2010 (UTC)

I think it would be more appropriate to title the page "Aveline (Dragon Age 2)" as opposed to Wesley's Wife, since that implies that it is all she is and should be. Sure she is his wife and is so far known as that but that shouldn't be her defining role in creating a page. I don't know how to or if you can change titles of a page so I'm putting my opinion here Celsis (talk) 00:40, September 28, 2010 (UTC)

@ .Gdubs (said with a joker grin) because I’m not a serious person. I mean I’d do it just because I like to see someone take evil and be evil. Not this play maybe there evil stuff. Dragon age is close to being there. You can have your ally killed and marry the queen. That said don’t take me too serious here because I’m not

@Celsis So do it. Just right now her outstanding feature is being a templar’s wife.--IceStar100 (talk) 03:59, September 28, 2010 (UTC)

I hope she's not a romance option... unless they take away her body-builder arms —Preceding unsigned comment added by Crimpycracker (talkcontribs)

Women cant be strong and attractive?--Gdubs (talk) 04:08, February 26, 2011 (UTC)

A woman can be physically and emotionally strong and still be attractive. Aveline is not as bad as a lot of people are saying. But the extremes of that like female bodybuilding is decidedly not attractive for a great deal of men.--Ironreaper (talk) 08:33, February 26, 2011 (UTC)

Don't romance her if you don't like her, simple as.

Is Wesley actually allowed to marry? I remember Alistar tellin Leliana that he never took vows because he became a warden and the bewitched templar in the mage tower wanted a family but he couldn't so it seems obvious they take vows that forbid marridge, so he must of secretly married Aveline. Welshman15 (talk) 21:29, February 21, 2011 (UTC)

Possibly. The templar may have wanted the opertunity but was deniyed it because he was constricted to the tower/His duties were to numerous to allow for distractions/ because Wesly doesnt answer to a Commander? Or it may be a minor recont.

I think it's because Wesly is a 'free Templar' like the ones seen in Lothering. It's the ones in the Tower who aren't since their job is to important. Gorvar (talk) 16:58, March 27, 2011 (UTC)

Aveline as a companion in DA2?[]

I think Aveline might be a permanent companion. This isn't just mindless speculation either, I saw this on the BioWare forums:

http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/11/05/meet-isaballa-dragon-age-2s-sexy-rogue-lady-pirate/

Near the end, when it talks about the party member's skill sets, and Isabela's Swashbuckler abilities, it mentions Aveline's abilities. Does this mean she's a party member? Jake200493 (talk) 14:09, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

Digiexpo[]

I added the info on her being a companion, and of the animosity between her and Bethany, based on gameplay we saw during Digiexpo. She and Bethany shared mid-battle banter that was roughly "You show considerable restraint." "For a mage you mean." "I could've said for a Hawke." Azuraj (talk) 18:21, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

Could you post a link to that source? It would be nice to have put the source up on the page, but if you don't know how, just link it here and either I or someone else will probably put it up. Thanks. Celsis (talk) 03:03, November 9, 2010 (UTC)
Well, there's not a direct source since they didn't allow filming and apparently haven't shown that gameplay part anywhere else. But there's this article http://www.v2.fi/artikkelit/pelit/573/Dragon-Age-II/ that recaps what they showed and lists the companions and such, but no online source that would show the whole thing. Azuraj (talk) 02:46, November 10, 2010 (UTC)

Armor[]

I believe the armor Aveline is wearing with the double-headed bird is a placeholder as we've seen Hawke wear the same armor. Does anyone have an image of Aveline in the city guard armor? Maria Caliban (talk) 05:21, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

I was actually about to say that that symbol on the armour looked vaguely like the Warden Commander heraldry... IP no. 59.95.169.10 (talk) 08:11, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

Trivia suggestion[]

I swear to GOD she's a nod to Brienne of Tarth (A Song of Ice and Fire).--Lesk Amell (talk) 11:07, February 19, 2011 (UTC)

What about Aveline`s maiden name, du Lac? I believe that her exiled noble father shares his surname with the knight of the round table, sir Lancelot. Ironically both Lancelot du Lac and Aveline, knight of Orlais (Aveline Vallen`s name sake) were both legendary knights from the chivalric ballads and tales (Aveline from the dragon age franchise and Lancelot from the real world). 22:41, January 30, 2014.

Aveline --- Jaheira[]

Has anyone else noticed parallels between Aveline and Jaheira from the Baldur's Gate series? Both play the role of the strong woman archetype who lose their (rather weak) husbands early in the second game. Both can be romanced by the player-character and you can imagine how both will face similar emotional dilemmas.

I would not be surprised at all to see some in-game references like that in Mass Effect II - how Tali, parallel to Aerei, would yell, "Go for the optics!"

My bet: "Maker! Take the life she gave!" --24.179.34.181 (talk) 23:50, March 2, 2011 (UTC)xiaozh

Romance Option?[]

I just encountered the heart icon on the dialog wheel talking to Aveline. I believe this means she should be listed as a romance option, no? I can't confirm yet that she is, but that's what I've interpreted the lines marked with a heart to mean up until now.

The Prima Strategy Guide states that, while she may be some one to flirt with, romance is not an option with Aveline. 99.6.160.157 (talk) 04:09, March 11, 2011 (UTC) Lammo

Friendly to a Blood Mage[]

All continuity aside and roleplay aside, just tactics here. Does a friendly Avaline still absorb some of Hawke's damage from casting spells as a blood mage? Would this also be true for the bodyguard ability? --Geotexan (talk) 17:39, March 23, 2011 (UTC)

I doubt it because bodyguard absorbs some damage. Blood mage abilities do not damage you, you merely sacrifice health. Damage and health sacrifice are usually two different things in most games.-- God · Pray · 17:44,3/23/2011

stuff[]

Just two things. Aveline is married to Donnic, she said he's her husband, so i think he should be put in family. Also, Aveline can kiss Hawke, so I thought that should be added. If it already is there, then sorry, I must've missed it. Mikazuki (talk) 02:00, August 7, 2011 (UTC)

The family listing in the infobox is only if it's canonical. She does not necessarily marry Donnic, so it has not been added. Regarding the kiss, it can be expanded in the trivia section. --D. (talk · contr) 04:36, August 7, 2011 (UTC)

It said in my Codex entry for Aveline in act III that a year prior to the events in act III she married Donnic. Mikazuki (talk) 11:39, August 8, 2011 (UTC)

That's because you pursued her personal quest. If you do not do her personal quest in Act II, she is not even with Donnic in Act III. So, it's not necessarily canon, just like Anders' or Fenris' death. 75.163.104.69 (talk) 00:52, December 11, 2013 (UTC)

Headquote[]

I have reverted the change made to Aveline's headquote by User:REGamerGirl. I feel the original quote was more appropriate as it gave a better insight to Aveline's character and did not relate to a specific in-game event, as was the case with the newer quote. If anybody disagrees, please feel free to share. Chantry symbol King Cousland | Talk   18:54, February 26, 2013 (UTC)

Survival Trivia[]

Do we really need this as a trivia post? I know the trivia guidelines remain a bit ambiguous as to what we can and can't post but this really seems like a stretch. This seems more like an observation on game mechanics than a trivia. I move for it's deletion and the same on the other respective companion pages.-HD3 Sig 13:50, November 1, 2013 (UTC)

I did it! Aveline turns against me when I sided with the mages!

My Patch is 1.03. I did'n do the mission "Long Road", finnished his last mission against the ex-guard captain and get 100% rivality. Ah, and send Fenris to Danarius.

How did Aveline get into Kirkwall?[]

Maybe I've just missed something, but Gamlen said he got Athenril and Meeran to agree to pay for the Hawkes' entry, which wouldn't include Aveline. And then a year later she just...has a job with the City Guard somehow, even though they weren't letting Fereldans in. So how exactly did she get into Kirkwall? 67.193.193.186

Good question, but the simples answer is plot hole vel plot armor.FirstDrellSpectre (talk) 22:33, January 28, 2014 (UTC)
She gets in under the same circumstances as Hawke and Bethany/Carver, indentured servitude for a year.
Edit: Scap that, the conversation is slightly confusing, I think she actually get's in under the same pretences as Leandra.
Aveline: "And what of me? I won't allow others to incur debts on my behalf"
Gamlen: "Can't see that it makes any difference, you look like a lady that can pull her own weight"
Leandra: "Then you'll come with us"
Aveline: "I have no real option, thank you."
Hawke and Bethany work of the debt of getting them all in, and Aveline joins the guard - to 'pull her own weight'. Alexsau1991 25px-Goddammit.svg.png (talk page) 22:57, January 28, 2014 (UTC)

This whole part was badly written. First of all, why were they in the Gallows? That's outside the city, anyway. Woulda made more sense in the docks. And second, Aveline gets through because her character needs to. I wish Hawke could go off and get a paying job in the guard like she did, but no, Hawke has to be a a slave for a year. The only logical explanation is that her entrance was included in Hawke's debt. I didn't see her paying any of it back, though. Henio0 (talk) 23:04, January 28, 2014 (UTC)

No, Varric explains it, you head into the city through the docks and into The Gallows, as "the slaves of old" did. So the docks are where the ship is docked, yes but then the actual entrance to the city is the Gallows. It's been awhile since I've seen it, but if I recall the miniseries Dragon Age: Repentance gives you a bit better idea how Kirkwall is set up. AbsolutGrndZer0 (talk) 21:31, September 27, 2014 (UTC)

Possible for her to NOT be Guard Captain?[]

I've never tried, though I might on my next playthrough, but can you skip The Way It Should Be and then she never gets a promotion, or is it a main quest? The text in her armor section implies it can be skipped where it says "If Aveline becomes the new guard captain after The Way It Should Be her armor changes to Guard-Captain's Ranked Plate, reflecting her new role." So, can it be skipped, or should that be changed to WHEN Aveline becomes the new guard captain? AbsolutGrndZer0 (talk) 21:36, September 27, 2014 (UTC)

She still becomes Guard Captain, even if you skip The Way It Should Be. At the beginning of Act2, she says Jeven "suddenly retired" or something like that, implying there were strange circumstances surrounding Jeven leaving. She wears Guard-Captain armor even if you don't help her, so yeah, the armor description should probably be changed. --Death by Cheese (talk) 22:02, September 27, 2014 (UTC)

Alright, thanks! I went ahead and took the liberty to mention that it happens no matter what. AbsolutGrndZer0 (talk) 23:33, September 27, 2014 (UTC)

is it possible to have a relationship with Aveline or not? 213.105.183.2 (talk) 10:35, March 17, 2015 (UTC)

No, you can flirt with her, but she politely turns you down. AbsolutGrndZer0 (talk) 01:26, March 18, 2015 (UTC)

Orlesian nobility?[]

Regarding the last addition of a category: does the daughter of an exiled chevalier still count as nobility in a country she even doesn't live in anymore? -- UserCCCSig -- You talkin' to me? -- cCContributions -- 09:08, July 22, 2017 (UTC)

You need to be noble to be a chevalier and her father pushed her to become one so I guess technically it's not wrong. --Evamitchelle (talk) 09:25, July 22, 2017 (UTC)
He lost his nobility because he lost in The Game. In Orlais, you're not noble for life. Du Paraquettes' ancestors lost their nobility and it took a lot of work to return it to their descendants.User signature henioo henioo (da talk page) 21:23, July 23, 2017 (UTC)

NopeI say Aveline is not a noble by any stretch of the imagination. User signature henioo henioo (da talk page) 21:23, July 23, 2017 (UTC)
