This page details how the choices made in an imported Dragon Age: Origins save game will affect Origins DLC, Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening and Dragon Age II.

Dragon Age: Origins characters Edit

Alistair Edit

Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening Edit

Alistair is only seen in Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening if he was elected king at the Landsmeet or married Anora. He will appear at Vigil's Keep after the first attack, clad in a set of armor resembling the Hirol's Defense armor set and leading a platoon of templars. He arrives to observe the situation, and decide on what the Warden must do. If the Warden is Orlesian, the game assumes Alistair was elected king at the Landsmeet. If the Warden was in a romance with Alistair during the game, or is a female human noble and married to him, he will acknowledge the relationship.

Dragon Age II Edit

If the Warden put him on the throne, Alistair will make a brief appearance in Dragon Age II during the quest King Alistair. He will be accompanied by Bann Teagan. If a female Human Noble married him in Dragon Age: Origins, he will humorously refer to her as "the old ball and chain." When Bann Teagan comments that the Queen hates being called this, Alistair will say that "Just because she killed an Archdemon, she doesn't scare me." Teagan replies, "You keep telling yourself that Your Majesty." If Alistair slept with both the female Warden and Isabela, then she will tease him when they meet again.

If you didn't put Alistair on the throne, but killed Loghain during the Landsmeet, Alistair will show up during the last quest of Act 2, outside of Gamlen's House. If you allowed Bethany/Carver to join the Grey Wardens, then you will see them with Alistair. He is leading a small band of Wardens on a "secret mission", so he cannot join Hawke to fight the Qunari. When leaving, he will give Hawke The Sacred Heart, and, depending on the Warden's relationship with him in Origins, his dialogue will change.

If you didn't put Alistair on the throne, and allowed Loghain to live, Alistair will appear in the Hanged Man as a drunk, twice. The second time, Bann Teagan will come and ask Alistair to return to Ferelden, in which Alistair stands, and they both leave.

Anora Edit

This article contains spoilers for Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening. Click here to reveal them.
If a save game is imported into Awakening in which a male Human Noble married Anora she will appear at Vigil's Keep to greet him and will acknowledge their relationship.

Wynne Edit

This article contains spoilers for Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening. Click here to reveal them.
If a save was imported where Wynne survived, she will be in the City of Amaranthine in Awakening. If a save was imported wherein the Warden defiled the Urn of Sacred Ashes but Wynne survived, she will comment on it.

Leliana Edit

Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening Edit

If a save is imported where Leliana was in a relationship with the Warden, a codex entry containing a letter from her will be in the player's inventory at the start of Awakening.

Dragon Age II Edit

This article contains spoilers for Dragon Age II. Click here to reveal them.

Leliana appears in the quest Faith and in the ending no matter whether she survived in Origins or not. This has been acknowledged by BioWare developers.

If you romanced Leliana in Origins and imported your save she will speak about how the Warden is "dear to her heart"; otherwise she will state that she has not seen the Warden in years, or say that they are "a good King/Queen" (if they married Anora/Alistair). If Leliana slept with both the Warden and Isabela, then she will tease her when they meet again.

Leliana will also say that she accompanied the Warden until the end, even if the Urn of Andraste was defiled and she turned against the Warden, resulting in her death, or if she wasn't recruited in Lothering at all.

Sophia Dryden Edit

If the demon possessing Sophia Dryden was spared and allowed to leave Soldier's Peak, then she will be encountered during Dragon Age II on the Wounded Coast during the quest Terror on the Coast, leading her own cult.

Morrigan Edit

This article contains spoilers for Witch Hunt. Click here to reveal them.
If you romanced Morrigan in Origins you can continue this romance during the Witch Hunt DLC, with the end result being the Warden and Morrigan kissing and going through the Eluvian together. Alternatively if Morrigan was allowed to go through the Eluvian unimpeded or was attacked by the Warden this choice will be imported.

Zevran Arainai Edit

Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening Edit

If a save is imported where Zevran was in a relationship with the Warden, a codex entry containing a letter from him will be in the player's inventory at the start of Awakening.

Dragon Age II Edit

Splr da2
“There are men who embrace destiny; these are the ones that change the world forever.” — Flemeth
This article contains spoilers for Dragon Age II. Click here to reveal them.

If Zevran survived the events of Origins, he may be encountered in a cave near a Dalish camp after you have triggered a quest given by an Antivan outside the entrance of the Blooming Rose. Hawke will have the option to either bring him back to his employer, let him go, or fight him. If you let Zevran go and kill the Crows hunting him, he will appear during the final battle with Meredith to help you.

If Zevran was not in a romance with the Warden at the end of Origins, he will offer to "get to know" Hawke after the Crows are eliminated. If the champion is in a relationship with Isabela and she is in the party during the quest A Murder of Crows, it is possible to have a threesome between Isabela, the champion, and Zevran, if the champion agrees to kill the Crows that are after him. Even if you're in a relationship with Isabela, she will proposition Zevran. Hawke can ask her not to, and Isabela will comply, telling Hawke that they had better make up for it with sex later. If the champion is in a relationship with Anders, Merrill or Fenris and they are present when Zevran makes his offer, they will react jealously and Zevran will retract his offer. If Zevran is in a romance with the Warden he will not proposition Hawke, and the Crows will comment on the Warden. (This is still bugged and may not occur as of patch 1.04.)

The Warden Edit

This article contains spoilers for Dragon Age II. Click here to reveal them.
If the Warden was a Dwarf Commoner or Dwarf Noble, Elthina and Varric will comment on it during Act 1; Hawke says that the Hero of Ferelden and not the Maker was responsible for ending the Fifth Blight. Also, if the Warden was a Mage then Elthina will also comment saying the Maker may even work through a mage. If the Warden was of Dalish Elf Origin, then Merrill and Marethari will both comment on it and refer to them by their surname of Mahariel. If the Warden was in a relationship with Alistair, he will acknowledge it in both his Grey Warden and King quests. Leliana and Zevran will also do this.

Dragon Age: Awakening characters Edit

Anders Edit

Despite the various epilogues of Awakening, Anders will always appear in Dragon Age II.

In Act 1, If Anders meets Stroud in the Deep Roads, Stroud will have different a line depending on if Anders "died" in Awakening.

Justice Edit

No matter what happens to Justice in Awakening, it will merge with Anders as a host to be in the material world.

Nathaniel Howe Edit

Splr da2
“There are men who embrace destiny; these are the ones that change the world forever.” — Flemeth
This article contains spoilers for Dragon Age II. Click here to reveal them.

If Nathaniel Howe survived the events of Awakening Nathaniel makes two appearances in Dragon Age II, first during the quest Finding Nathaniel. The second in the last part of the Final Battle against Knight-Commander Meredith. Note that Nathaniel will only appear if he was brought along to fight the Mother. He will still be counted as dead even if the player unlocked an epilogue in which he survived.

If Anders is in the party during Finding Nathaniel, he will have special banter with Nathaniel; the dialogue varies depending on whether Anders survived at the end of Awakening or "died".

Quests Edit

If the City of Amaranthine was saved, then the quest Secret Rendezvous will be available at the Hanged Man from the Suspicious Lady.

If the city was abandoned to the Darkspawn, then the quest the Conspirators will be available from Sergeant Joanna in Lowtown. If the quest Elemental Requirements was completed, then the Silver Order will be founded as a new army based out of Vigil's Keep and Joanna will be a member of the order.

If Avernus was spared and permitted to continue his research in the Warden's Keep DLC, either ethically or without restrictions, the quest Dark Epiphany will be available.

Return to Ostagar Edit

The decision regarding whether Cailan's body was burned, left for the Wolves or left crucified by the Darkspawn during the Return to Ostagar DLC is checked when importing to Dragon Age II.

Golems of Amgarrak Edit

This article contains spoilers for Golems of Amgarrak. Click here to reveal them.
If the Anvil of the Void was recovered and Orzammar is able to manufacture golems again, Jerrik Dace will mention this. If Bhelen became King he will also mention this as well as Branka. If the Warden-Commander is imported from Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening from a save which has completed the campaign up to The Nest, a codex entry from Garevel will be included which mentions he been promoted to be the new Seneschal.
