Rainesfere is a bannorn in the Arling of Redcliffe, a tiny province squeezed between the Frostback Mountains and Lake Calenhad.

Background[]

Ser Thorval of Rainesfere was the sixth son of a sixth son, a child of ill-fortune. It showed on his 13th birthday, when he narrowly avoided being run over by a cart, only to have a tree fall on him. It also showed on his wedding day, when his bride ran off with a roving dwarven tinker. But nowhere was Thorval's misfortune more obvious than on the battlefield as every blade and shield he took into battle shattered. After another unfortunate accident Thorval finally won himself honor and acclaim by taking up a hammer in a tournament winning his matches easily. From that day forth, he used no other weapon.[1]

Rainesfere was occupied during the Second Orlesian Occupation.[2]

Involvement[]

Dragon Age: Origins[]

Younger brother to Arl Eamon Guerrin of Redcliffe, and uncle to King Cailan, Teagan Guerrin holds the bannorn of Rainesfere. Bann Teagan avoids the Denerim court except to go hunting with his nephew, and rarely makes himself heard at the Landsmeet, preferring to leave politics to his brother.[3]

Dragon Age: Inquisition[]

If the Inquisitor elects to side with the mages during the main quest In Hushed Whispers, Teagan Guerrin will ask for reparations for one of his freeholds in Rainesfere that was burned to the ground when a mage inside lost control of his abilities.[4]

Trivia[]

  • A Rolled-Up Note can be found in the quest codex entries and seems to send the Warden to the bannorn, but it was never meant to be a quest as confirmed by Bioware.[5]
