Playing with Fire is a side quest in Dragon Age: Inquisition. A letter found on a corpse said: "Three times around the crowned statue, right hand close enough to brush the stone itself, and the spirits will listen." Doing so will apparently bring back someone's grandfather. The letter writer must really miss him.

Acquisition

Read a letter found next to a burnt corpse located in the South of the Hinterlands

Walkthrough

Bring the grandfather back

The body is found in Avvar Blade Valley which is located in the Souther portion of the Hinterlands to the West Northwest of Valammar dungeon. Once you've aquired the quest you simply have to travel West until you reach the statue depicted below holding a crown. Move around the statue clock-wise (always turning right) three times to spawn a special enemy in the nearby grave.

Defeat the demon

The special enemy will be an Elite called "Grandfather". Killing "Grandfather" will complete the quest and he will drop some loot.

Rewards

  • XP
  • 40 Influence
  • Some loot

Notes

It is not known why the body with the letter was burnt, the "Grandfather" appears to have no fire based attacks thus it must have been something else entirely that killed the man prior to resurrecting his grandfather.

Letter Found on a Corpse

"She told us right and proper, son. Three times around the crowned statue, right hand close enough to brush the stone itself, and the spirits will listen. Everything else has been done. We slipped a silver to the chantry to save grandfather's body from the burning, and he's buried close by. Three times around, always turning right, and the spirits will bring him back to us. Go now and don't be afraid."
