Maevaris Tilani is a Tevinter magister recognized by the Imperial senate and a widow to Varric's cousin Thorold. She promised her protection to Alistair, Isabela and Varric. The dwarf calls her Mae.

The plot follows BioWare's own canon, meaning that Alistair is king of Ferelden in the comic's story.

Alistair, Isabela and Varric meet Maevaris at the ball in Tevinter. She introduces Lord Devon whom she asked to watch for Isabela's ship and keep it off the registry. It appears that she was gathering information on Aurelian Titus. When he arrives and the trio attacks him, she fights on their side, claiming that she can't let anything happen to Varric and that as a magister she will stand by her word. When the fight is over, she urges Alistair, Isabela and Varric to leave before the guard arrives: there will be questions and it'd be better if a magister is the one answering them.

The Qunari assault Ath Velanis at the command of their new Arishok, led by Alistair and Isabela as they confront Aurelian Titus. Meanwhile Varric infiltrates the fortress undetected and searches for Maric Theirin. While there he liberates Maevaris Tilani who had been taken prisoner.

• Maevaris' appearance, and her nickname of "Mae", seems to be based on actress Mae West.

• In Until we sleep, it is revealed that Maevaris is a transgender character and the second one known after Serendipity.
