Isseya was present at the fall of Antiva City at the beginning of the Fourth Blight. She had been sent there together with several other wardens, including her brother, to evacuate the royal family and as many citizens as possible. It was there that they met Calien, an Antivan Crow and blood mage (as she realized years later), and Amadis Vael, second daughter of the cousin to the Prince of Starkhaven and leader of the Ruby Drakes mercenary company.[2]

During the siege of Hossberg, she was able to locate and destroy an opening of the Deep Roads, through which the darkspawn supplied themselves, by using blood magic to follow one of them. As a result of this the Wardens, under the leadership of her brother, managed to break the siege. In Hossberg she also sucessfully developed a way to put griffons through the Joining with the use of blood magic. These griffons were then not only immune to the Taint, but were ten times stronger than normal griffons and could ignore even grave injuries. However they also lost a great deal of their mental capabilities and had to be controlled by a mage during battle. [3]

After the success in the Anderfels she accompanied her brother to the Free Marches, which at this point was under heavy attack from the darkspawn. Her task was to ensure Fortress Haine would be ready to house refugees from nearby Kirkwall. During this time the First Warden ordered her to put more Griffons through the Joining, as many had been injured or died in the battles over the years. With her support Garahel was able to unite the Free Marches and push back the darkspawn. [4]

After the Blight ended in the Battle of Ayesleigh in 5:24 Exalted, Isseya attended her brother's funeral, who had died slaying the Archdemon. She then returned to Weisshaupt, hoping to soon be able to go to her Calling, as she started losing her mind due to the Corruption. At Weisshaupt she was informed that many griffons had started dying due to an unknown sickness. While examining the griffons, she concluded that it was her Joining ritual that caused the sickness, not only infecting and killing the joined griffons but all of them. [5]

Fearing that she had sentenced the griffons to extinction, she started researching a cure. However she was unsuccessful in making any progress, so she finally went to Starkhaven to meet with Amadis. After explaining her the situation, she told her that she needed the eggs of her Griffon Smoke, which had been given to her by Garahel. She further explained that she was planning to purge them of the sickness and hide them, as she deemed the Wardens of this Generation not trustworthy of raising them. Amadis agreed and asked Isseya to give Smoke a painless death, which Isseya did. She them hid the eggs in the Red Bride's Grave and left clues at Weisshaupt that only an elven mage could find. [6]

This occurred centuries later in 9:42 Dragon, when the elven mage Valya discovered her diary in Weisshaupt leading her to the eggs.[7]
