House Tethras is a dwarven merchant caste house. Varric and his brother Bartrand belong to this house. They are now surface dwarves part of the Dwarven Merchant Guild. Bartrand is/was the head of the House at the time of Dragon Age II.
House Tethras was expelled one and all from Orzammar when it was found to be fixing Provings.
In Legacy DLC the origin of the House is revealed.
