The Genlock Necromancer is a darkspawn with magical powers, specialized in reanimating corpses. It is encountered in the Return to Ostagar and it is the main antagonist in the DLC. Another necromancer is encounter in the Silverite Mine in Awakening.

The necromancer first appears when you cross the bridge towards the Tower of Ishal. The Warden encounters it right after seeing Cailan's crucified body and it summons several skeletons. Once the Warden tracks it down to the Ostagar battlefield, it reanimates a Risen Ogre (Elite boss), as well as constantly spawning skeletons. Killing the Necromancer will destroy all reanimated creatures, including the ogre.

Another genlock necromancer is encountered in the Silverite Mine during the The Righteous Path. It will summon three skeletons and you will need to fight it along with several darkspawn and a drake.
