Gatsi Sturhald is a dwarven stonemason being employed by the Inquisition. He is located in Skyhold inside the castle, next to the door to the Gardens.

Background[]

Gatsi was trained as a stonemason in Orzammar, where he carved the statue of Paragon Branka. After coming to view the Paragon as mad, he left the thaig, as he was no longer able to bear the sight of the statue.

Involvement[]

He will arrive in Skyhold in order to aid the Inquisition in construction matters and evaluate the structural integrity of existing buildings. Gatsi can also offer information in the mosaic tiles which can be discovered during the Inquisitor's travels. He believes the tiles to be Tevinter in origin, due to the tool markings and grain of the tiles. The material may have come from the Hundred Pillars, mysteriously engineered spires that look like stone but are actually a form of mortar.

Trivia[]

  • Once all five mosaics have been interpreted Gatsi will no longer be found standing inside the castle.
  • If the Orlesian Decor is selected from the customization menu in Skyhold's Undercroft the statues outside the main entrance leading into the hall can be examined to obtain a note from Gatsi.
  • Gatsi is adorned with facial tattoos which are usually found on casteless dwarves or Legionnaires.
  • Gatsi shares his last name with Kal-Sharok merchant Novas Sturhald. Considering the House system of the dwarves, it is likely that the two share the same ancestors.
