The Gallows Courtyard is an area within the Gallows in Kirkwall Dragon Age II. The area is only accessible during the day. Although this area is the first one Hawke visits upon arriving in the city, the courtyard will not be accessible until Wayward Son or Enemies Among Us appear in the Rumors section of the quest journal.

Visiting the area with Fenris Edit
The first time you visit the Gallows Courtyard with Fenris, he will wonder if the Gallows is more effective than the Circle of Magi from the Tevinter Imperium. If another mage companion is there, he will ask if you are sure about being here considering the company you are with. Your companions will also react to your opinion on the Circle of Magi.
After the discussion, Hawke will gain friendship and/or rivalry with party members whom were affected directly by this debate, and will obtain Codex entry: Tevinter: The Magisters.
After Enemies Among Us Edit
If Hawke returns to speak to Cullen after completing Enemies Among Us, Hawke can gain minor changes to friendship and rivalry.
If Hawke declares that the order needs to change:
- Aveline: friendship (+5)
- Anders: friendship (+5)
If Hawke declares their support for the templars:
- Merrill: rivalry (+10)
- Anders: rivalry (+5)
- Fenris: friendship (+5)
- Aveline: friendship (+5)
