Do you have a copy of Dragon Age: The World of Thedas Volume 2? If so, the wiki needs your help!

We've gotten quite a bit of the info from the book added to the wiki, but there's still a lot (a lot) of info that still needs to be added. The main subject that we're missing is character bios. Which is about 80% of the book. There are way too many characters that still need info added for me to list, so I may create an actual project page if there is enough interest, but basically we need almost all of the companions from all three games, and many, many minor characters. Some characters have no background info added, some have a bit, and a few (such as Leliana) are more or less complete but could use a good looking-over.

Some of these bios are several pages long, and there isn't a need to add every single bit about the characters mentioned, but there's a lot of good info about their past histories that I think warrant inclusion. If you want an example of an article that's had a summarized bio added to it, see Nathaniel Howe.

Really, there's lots (lots) of info to be added. We pretty much need to start on page 1 and go all the way through to the indexes. We could also use some images--though for possible copyright reasons we shouldn't add a whole lot of those.

Any way you can help would be greatly appreciated. Any questions or suggestions about where to start or what specifically needs work, let me know!

I'm happy to help however I can but a list of which character bios need info from vol 2 would be handy

-Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 09:19, January 26, 2016 (UTC)

Ok. It'll take me awhile to comb through the book for all the names but I'll gather a list and post it. Kelcat Talk 11:01, January 26, 2016 (UTC)
Happy to help too. I'm wondering how historical characters would be handled. WoT2 adds a lot of information about historical figures who don't have their own page, for example Archons Almadrius & Tidarion. Would that warrant them getting their own page or should that info be added into the general 'Archon' page? How about the Thedosian Artists and writers? --Evamitchelle (talk) 10:24, January 26, 2016 (UTC)
Specifically with regards to Archon Tidarion, that could be developed more on the Tevinter Imperium article. It could be a good place to discuss how the ascension and acceptance of laetan mages began with his promotion, etc.

Sounds good. That would help fill out some gaps in the history section and add some info on the 'Social Class' one. --Evamitchelle (talk) 11:01, January 27, 2016 (UTC)
We've got guidelines for new character articles at DA:CHARACTER. Essentially historical characters require two separate sources in order to warrant an article, so if they're only in WoT, they wouldn't qualify, but perhaps incidents in their lives may be of note that would fit elsewhere. An article about writers and artists of Thedas would actually be really cool. Itd be a bigger project since it'd contain info from the games and books, but it's something to think about. Here's a (possibly incomplete) list of characters in the book who have articles on the wiki:

Some of these may be complete, I haven't checked all of the articles thoroughly because frankly it's just too daunting a task for one person to take on. There are also several minor characters we don't have articles for but info about them might be placed on other relevent articles, and quite a few characters in the book that might have garnered a few sentences that I overlooked as they didn't have their own headers.

The Chantry, religion, Tevinter magisters, info about books the Chantry endorses and books they have banned, info from The Seer's Yarn, Bestiary (I believe most of these are just rehashes of codex entries), and info from the Chant of Light are only a few of the major topics that also need to be covered. Like I said--cover to cover. Smiley--Kelcat Talk 00:41, January 31, 2016 (UTC)

Filled out information for Corin, Neriah (created a page for her since Corin had one), Kordillus Drakon I, Kordillus Drakon II, Reville, Bianca Davri, Giselle.

There are also a couple more characters which don't really need editing, either because their pages are already up to date or because there's no real new info about them: Shianni, Vaughan Kendells, Felassan, Sophia Dryden. --Evamitchelle (talk) 07:51, January 31, 2016 (UTC)

Wow, fast work! I'll remove these from the list. --Kelcat Talk 04:05, February 1, 2016 (UTC)

I'm working on Neria and adding a page for The Body Canto but I have no idea how to get the WoT2 template to work. Any help would be appreciated. I've already added information from the book to Neria's page but it isn't cited, which I'm working on right now. I'll add the Canto page once I figure out how to cite correctly.--AQA473 (talk) 04:21, February 2, 2016 (UTC)

So glad you can help! The inline reference we use is {{Cite wot2|}} where you put the page number (or numbers) after the |. So, for example {{Cite wot2|75}} or {{Cite wot2|71-75}}. Make sure to add ref tags both before <ref> and after </ref> to make it show up in the references at the bottom of the articles. I fixed the Neria article, you can see what I did here. Hope that helps! --Kelcat Talk 05:04, February 2, 2016 (UTC)
Thank you so much for helping out with that. I'll try to get that working better on future edits. There's certainly a lot to do (thanks, BioWare). I've decided against doing The Body Canto because I haven't found an in-game codex entry like there is for Codex entry: The Soul Canto. The Body Canto exists on the Qun page. Other pages, like the Tome of Koslun link to the nonexistent page of The Body Canto. Is there a way to reroute these links to the location of the Body Canto on the Qun page or should we just ignore them?--AQA473 (talk) 05:59, February 2, 2016 (UTC)
The Body Canto now exists as a redirect page which goes directly to the related section on the Qun article. That should fix the dead links. --Kelcat Talk 06:41, February 2, 2016 (UTC)

Can we add strikethrough to the links here so we know when a link has been updated?

-Seekers of Truth heraldryHD3 (Talk) 22:04, February 2, 2016 (UTC)

You can strike through or just remove it from the list, either way works. --Kelcat Talk 04:21, February 3, 2016 (UTC)

I have aquired a copy of WoT2 and shall be making edits over the weekend as well. ;) I've added a few things to Maferath already. User signature henioo henioo (da talk page) 07:37, February 7, 2016 (UTC)

Sweet! Maferath and Andraste are two of the characters most in need of updates. --Kelcat Talk 02:58, February 8, 2016 (UTC)
I am a history buff, so I will focus on history. I will add other bits here and there, but it is not one of my strong suits. History is the shiznits. I think the history bits for Maferath, Andraste's mother, his concubine, Jeshavis, his three sons, and how these three sons affected Orlais, Free Marches and Nevarra are complete. All that's missing now is to add specific dates, but that is not included in WoT2. I will have to go back to WoT1 and some codex entries, and browse through the Timeline to connect the events in the articles to correct dates, but that is a task for another time. Off to work for a few days and then back to editing wiki. ;) I will more than likely have a look at anything Andraste-related. I too, have a copy of WoT2. Where shall I start from? There might be others who are editing certain pages and I don't want to overwrite their work. Although I'm still confused how to make the forums publish my name and all. -Calestria

Anything on the list not mentioned by others are the ones we're in need of most--we've been crossing off the ones as we complete them. It also looks like quite a bit of the info from the bestiary is new, including the named high dragons (Kaltenzahn, etc) so we could use help with them. Or you can also skim through the character index at the back of the book, look through the info on the Chantry and the Chant of Light, or info about countries like the Imperium.
And to sign your name on forums, just add four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your message Smiley --Kelcat Talk 05:30, February 13, 2016 (UTC)

I'm finally reading WoT2 cover to cover, but I'll be very happy to do the bestiary section as a start. Also, the pages that are listed on this forum, are they all complete? Or are they the ones who need a review? I'm looking forward to writing about the dragons, though. Calestria (talk) 05:57, February 13, 2016 (UTC) Edit: I looked over the dragons, so they should all have relevant background information added now.

Excellent! All of the characters listed above are the ones that haven't yet been completed. --Kelcat Talk 07:22, February 13, 2016 (UTC)

Characters are finally done! There may still be some information scattered in the book, but the most important part should be over. --Evamitchelle (talk) 08:42, April 2, 2016 (UTC)
