Hey guys. I am sure most of you have noticed that many (and relatively new) wiki members reside in the separate part of Discussions. They have active, useful and meaningful conversations however their side is completely separate from ours which results in the absolute majority of them having 0 mainspace edits. Similarly most of our wiki's active editors do not post there.
We are a small community and being cut in two is doing us great disservice. The wikia is planning on removing the forums and replacing them with Discussions at some point in the future. So I think we should do it ourselves before it's being forced upon us and fully transition into the Discussions.
Uniting our community is vital for its sustainability and growth. Considering that the admin team is inactive it falls to this discussion to determine if we're going forward with this proposal or not. 18:17, December 20, 2017 (UTC)
- It should be noted that there is not actually a retirement plan for this type of Forum (referred to as the “Wiki-style Forum” or “Old Forum”), only the new Forums (located at Special:Forum) are being retired. So you could conceivably keep this Forum indefinitely if you wanted.
That said, as someone who Moderates the Discussions here, I would welcome the activity normally held in this Forum being redirected to Discussions. It would make it much easier for me to interact, & the same is true for many other users who are more limited than I am (e.g. if you use the Community App to interact with the Wikia then you can only use Discussions, you literally cannot interact in any other way except by reading pages).
Therefore, this proposal has my support. If the community does not want it, then I’d be happy to offer plenty of alternatives that can help bridge the divide; whatever works for the most people.
