I'm about to write another story about my favourite Orlesian lesbians, and I was wondering what exactly the information the inquisitor can blackmail Gaspard with was, and also what you can blackmail Briala with. And I never really understood that quest anyway, I mean what knowledge could be damning enough that Briala could keep Gaspard on her leash with it? So what exactly went down? ----WhisperingElf

See Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts for a full walkthrough, but basically it boils down to this (Minor Spoiler Warning!)

Briala:

She had spies all over the palace.

She a messenger for the Council of Heralds murdered.

Gaspard:

He threatened a member of the Council of Heralds.

He snuck chevaliers and mercenaries into the palace.

He had an ambassador murdered.

Celene:

She was having an affair with Briala (need locket)

She seduced one of Gaspard's men into revealing his plan and was going to allow him to attack in order to catch him red-handed (not sure how that's blackmail but whatever).

Honestly though, just play through the quest normally and you should get all of those things automatically. Only the locket is kinda out of the way, you need to open a door that requires Halla statues, but that's not very hard to find either. Silver Warden (talk) 20:44, June 27, 2015 (UTC)

Thank you so much, this is exactly what I was looking for. Playing that quest, as much fun as the combat and intrigue was, I found really stressful so I didn't want to go back and do it again. But now I don't have to!

But that aside, couldn't all of this just be seen by the nobility as playing The Game? Spies, murder and seduction... the only thing really scandelous out of all of those is Celene's affair with Briala.

It is playing the Game, which is how the participants justify it. But other nobles would see the blackmail (were it to be revealed) as something to use in order to advance themselves in the Game. Part of playing the Game is not getting caught. Silver Warden (talk) 22:19, June 29, 2015 (UTC)

Well. Fuck. Now I understand. I would not survive a second in Orlais because I have zero tolerance or patience for bullshit/manipulation. But the Game is sort of like, everyone knows that it's going on behind the scenes but pretends that it's not/ignores it. When it's exposed everyone acts horrified like 'holy shit how could you.' even though they knew that kind of shit was going on, and they are partaking in it themselves. Fuck.
