I find myself short on time with too much to do in too little time. So, in interest of moving forward quickly, I was wondering if anyone is interested in creating the following templates and inserting them into the relevant pages?

  • Template:Equipment - a navigation for equipment
  • Template:Locations - a navigation for location in dao and its expansions (anywhere that is non random and on the map)
  • Template:Quests - a navigation tool for the main quest line and its subquest
  • Template:Items
  • Template:Guides - a navbox for navigating between our guides

As the main editor you'd have a little bit more say as to what goes on in there so long as its not unreasonable. If you're interested let me know here. Cheers! -- tierrie talk contr 18:56, September 13, 2010 (UTC)

I was adding the equipment navbox, but then I realized some of the pages are marked as disambiguations (gloves and boots). Should they be added as they are currently do not count as articles? The same goes for helmet, which would really be a disamb to keep it consistent. Also, some of the links on the navbox are actually redirects: does that mean some pages should be moved for lowercase?
I believe the equipment navbox has been added on all pages (I might have missed one or two since most was added with pywikipedia). I took the liberty to add a linebreak/whitespace so that the tables and the navbox do not look like they are connected (it looks more appealing that way imo).
On an somewhat related-note, is the red link in the navbar intended for template talk pages that do not exist? --D. (talk · contr) 04:02, September 14, 2010 (UTC)
Re: Red links
The red links are templates that are not yet created.
Re: Disambiguation pages
Following in Wikipedia's example, there's no need to add NavBars to disambig pages unless there's an article there. Helmet is an exception that could use the NavBar IF you decide to start adding NavBars to all equipments. This is based on the merit that there's an actual article and item called "Helmet" so it is an article and a disambiguation page in one.
Re: Redirects
Could you give some example of the links in navboxes that are redirects?
By the way, thanks for the great work. Have you had experience with wikis before? -- tierrie talk contr 04:19, September 14, 2010 (UTC)
By red links, I meant the one on the navbar of the navbox (the "d" for discussion). I am just wondering if you intended to keep it that way since there's a workaround so that it is not red.
All articles with two words or more for their pagename in lowercase are redirects, e.g. Light armor. This makes it that they are still links on the navbox, while they would normally only be bold text. I do not know what the official policy is regarding capitalization for article and category names, although I have seen that Max21 was moving pages to lowercase categories with his bot (so I am led to believe that it's lowercase unless it's a title, name, and it's the way it is typed in-game).
As for my experience with wikis, yes, I have a pretty good experience with wikis (I am an active admin elsewhere). --D. (talk · contr) 04:36, September 14, 2010 (UTC)
Actually, I linked the wrong article, it's helmets. Forgot it was plural. --D. (talk · contr) 04:42, September 14, 2010 (UTC)
I'm not so proud that I won't ask for help :)
You seem to know what you're doing so go ahead and work through those changes so that the discussion links [d] are not red. If you want to create the pages itself, that's fine too. Otherwise I'm curious to see what the work around is.
And re capitalization, I don't think we have an official policy for that. I am inclined to go with Wikipedia which is "Uppercase first word only". If you have the python script and want to run it for us, I can give you access to a Bot account that you can make changes through so we can keep things consistent. -- tierrie talk contr 23:04, September 14, 2010 (UTC)
For the navbar, this is a bit different than I anticipated. Since it's possible to switch to another skin, the default links for Sapphire skin are blue, which is fine with articles, but it is impossible to read on the navboxes (because of the dark red background). So the only way would be to assign a color for each navbox with fontstyle, or it could just have a default color (yellow) by styling the link. That would be entirely different if the navboxes are handled with Monaco.css rather than Common.css, so I'd rather not change for now, so this is up to you.
I also have (my own bot). I can definitely update links, move pages and change categories. I am not entirely sure of which pages should and shouldn't be moved (if there are exceptions), so I'll compile a small list and I'll post it in a new forum post when I can. There are some obvious ones, but there are others which aren't (to me). --D. (talk · contr) 01:37, September 15, 2010 (UTC)
As I understand it, Wikia is going to undergo a new change soon. When that rolls about we can work on skinning. Plus, I'd also like to start working on a new skin for DA2 a few months before it rolls out so we will have something ready to go. I want to move all the NavBox color styles to Monaco and keep the structural stuff in Common, but, alas, there's so little time to work on it. -- tierrie talk contr 18:35, September 15, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm still waiting to get beta access for the skin. Attributing default colors for Common.css was just an idea. I personally think it's a bit counterproductive to accommodate for those who may be using another skin, unless there's an actual demand for it. --D. (talk · contr) 21:23, September 15, 2010 (UTC)
