The Legacy demo and dev chat is now live. Elementalist King Cousland | Talk 19:39, July 15, 2011 (UTC)

I got there, just when they were saying goodbye and offering us IRL hugs. Was there anything that'd soften my jaded little butthurt heart? Futonrevoltion (talk) 20:15, July 15, 2011 (UTC)

I think I can scare up a few points:

  • There are new items in the DLC
  • Hawke's sibling will play a role in the DLC, depending on whether they are in the party, and the player's choices in the main game.
  • The devs have made an effort to scrap wave combat, and fights will now be more tactically challenging.
  • There will be five new enemies in the DLC, including Deepstalkers and new darkspawn.
  • Fans of Dragon Age lore will be "in for a treat". Similarities between Corypheus and The Architect are no coincidence, and Legacy delves into the Chantry's teaching on darkspawn. Elementalist King Cousland | Talk 20:18, July 15, 2011 (UTC)

I want to say that sounds promising... seems like a lot for $10.
I'm expecting a couple of re-skins, a class-specific weapon, two maps, and waves not spawning in the same place twice. Futonrevoltion (talk) 20:46, July 15, 2011 (UTC)

*The devs have made an effort to scrap wave combat, and fights will now be more tactically challenging.* Is this just for the DLC? Or are they going to try make a patch to add it in on the game?--LordRevan25 (talk) 23:03, July 15, 2011 (UTC)

Pretty sure it's just the DLC. To be honest, it seems like they care more about pleasing fans to make money, rather than pleasing fans to make up for DA2 being (at best) a massive divide in its fandom. Shotgunmaniac (talk) 23:11, July 15, 2011 (UTC)

From a lore and historical perspective I am curious and intrigued. But the rest of this, I have to say, I don't think is going to work. It seems they are really, really focusing on the crowd that was displeased with DA2. Which makes a lot of sense at first glance, and I would agree with this approach long term, say if this was a new game, or even an expansion. But there is one really crucial aspect no one is grasping I fear, especially at Bioware. The vast, vast majority of the displeased crowd never bought the game in the first place, so how are they going to play this? And a whole lot of those people that did buy the game and did not like it have clearly moved on. I'm not sure how many are coming back for just a few hours of new DLC at 10 bucks. I would guess not many. I fear this will fall on deaf ears to those people. And those who liked DA2 for what it was might be displeased with this new direction on top of that. I applaud the intent at least, and I'm curious as to what the lore will be. That may boost sales a little on its own. But using myself as a gauge, I'm probably just going to read it here to see what happens. I'm not really interested in actually playing it as much as I'm interested in seeing what happens at this point. I hope I'm wrong though, because this may be pretty important to them. For the people who were turned off by DA2 or never bought it to be begin with I suspect this DLC will do very little if anything to bring them back. But, as you your self have said to me elsewhere on the wiki, if it's good then hopefully it will revive interest in the series with them and get them more excited about DA3 when it's announced. Andy the Black (talk) 00:49, July 16, 2011 (UTC)
Totally agree with that, and hope that's the case. Good word of mouth can only help. Long term at least. I'm not sure a DLC will help all that much, but it's a start. They're clearly going for some major historical impact stuff here too, which is really smart. But that may not correlate to sales though. For a DLC actually I would highly doubt it. We'll see how it does with interest. As only a DLC, I'm not too sure it will have much impact on that to be honest, but who knows?. Interesting times. Funny thing is, I can see EA hovering over the writing staff right now like Tarkin on the Death Star. "I'm taking an awful risk here Gaider. This had better work." And then the Death Star blows up. The Grey Unknown (talk) 01:15, July 16, 2011 (UTC)

New locations, new enemies, and no wave combat. I have to admit to high hopes for Legacy. Maybe too high. Granted, given the laundry list of thinks I wanted that this DLC already seems to be delivering, the story would have to suck pretty hard for me to be seriously disappointed. All the same, I'm really hoping that this new lore we've been promised will answer more questions than it raises, for a change. I'll be pissed if what we get is basically just more cryptic mumbling.--DarkAger (talk) 02:33, July 16, 2011 (UTC)
