Please Help me out. I just started this game and is it supposed to be this diffucult? I know theyre apples and oranges, but the last RPG i really played was Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon. I like Turn Based Stuff, but willing to give this a chance, but I just dont have a freaking clue as to what to do, what do equip, how to equip it.

Im only at level 5 and stuck trying to disrupt a rift near Redcliff. Before the castle... near where you race with taht horse. When I first set out, I picked the right side... not the left side. I assume you get stronger doing the blue side in teh beginning first? Should I be stronger? Im doing my best to find things... I cant find that first requisition my character needs.. I really feel like quitting, starting over, but I dont want to.

I play as a Human Male Two Handed. Is this one of the weak players? How would you start if you just wanted a Human male?

Basically, this is waht I do. I have Solas and Varrick basic attack archers and guys like that, and for the spellbinders (dudes with teh book casting magic or whatever) I just attack head on, but I just let Solas and Varrick do their thing.

Please give me some tips. 97.100.29.32 (talk) 04:09, November 23, 2014 (UTC)LilDragonCat

Here is a tip. When you approach a fade rift or enemies in a new area, go into tactical mode and highlight the enemies with the cursor. Their level will be shown. Compare with yours, and if it is above yours by more than one or two levels, exit tactical mode, turn your character around and run like hell. The game is designed with backtracking in mind so don't try to clear an entire map all at once, just come back to these higher level areas once you have equalled or passed the level of those enemies.--I am Thorge (talk) 13:48, November 23, 2014 (UTC)

Pretty much this.

I learned this the hard way when I went to the Redcliffe side of the Hinterlands and got my ass whooped by a hammer-wielding bandit. Checked in tactical mode-lvl. 7, my level was 4 ---> RUN. One level difference shouldn't be that bad though. Every class is good, just pick the one you like the most. Eg., I'm playing a Male Qunari Warrior (because my brothers were looking and I couldn't make a sexy female Elven Rogue in peace :P). Try doing quests and closing rifts on the right side of the Hinterlands, they seem to be leveled lower. The game really kicks in later, so don't give up. Thanks for the advice guys. I will try. So to level up just fight Templars and Mages taht are weaker or equal to myself and I will level up? Are there other ways to level up? Where do I find the longing stand? 97.100.29.32 (talk) 17:49, November 23, 2014 (UTC) LilDragonCat

That particular rift you're talking about could be the one that's a few levels higher than you are. I just went through there on my second playthrough. These guys are level 12. So leave and come back later when you're at least level 9 or 10. ZandorPizzagasm (talk) 17:52, November 23, 2014 (UTC)

Ok, so just to ask again...are there other ways to level up other than just fighting... and where can I find a Logging Stand? 97.100.29.32 (talk) 21:06, November 23, 2014 (UTC) LilDragonCat

You can do quests. You know, like in most other RPGs... :| As for the Logging Stand, dunno. There are two in the Hinterlands, that's all I know. Saba0th (talk) 21:10, November 23, 2014 (UTC)

I apologize. I finally got the Logging Stand by hitting X on the quest map... and it let me see the different quests. I just put this one and went to Haven. Now... one more question if I may.. How do I get back my party members? I was near Redcliffe with Solas Casandra and Varrick, but when I went to Haven, I was alone. How do I get them back? Please help 97.100.29.32 (talk) 21:45, November 23, 2014 (UTC) LilDragon Cat

They do not travel with you in Haven. Varric is standing by a campfire straight from the village gates, Cassandra is standing where those soldiers are training, Leliana is in a tent in front of the temple, Solas by some huts, Josephine inside the temple. Cullen is... somewhere. Anyway, when you travel to a location on the world map, you pick those companions that will go with you. Saba0th (talk) 21:54, November 23, 2014 (UTC)
