I'm playing a two-handed warrior, about 90 hours in, and myself and my companions have generally been stuck with the same armor models. As soon as I got Skyhold I flew to the undercroft to craft some shiny new moddable custom armor. I used all of my resources and was disappointed to find that the Heavy armor of the Dragon, and pretty much all of the other models lacked a customization option.

Through looting and exploring I've discovered some good armor mods and schematics, but I still feel like I'm missing something. The merchants seem a bit barren or lacking in the selection of schematics and customizable equipment. Is the Warrior/Mage/Rogue Schematics Perk really the only way to go? I've heard from a few people that those perks aren't really worth it.

P.S. I love the fact that most armor pieces keep the same model for your companions, and that the appearance changes based on modifications, but it would be nice to have a Free Army, or Chevalier Chestplate that I could customize.

As a reminder, make sure to sign your posts. Regarding your problem, I too have noticed that unique armors (Warden Armors, Orlesian Armors, and Free Army armors) don't have customization slots, which sucks because some of them are pretty cool. Your best bet is to check shops regularly for schematics, go for the schematic perks and look out for schematic drops from enemies and completion of various quests. That's about it. --Scotiej (talk) 20:49, December 17, 2014 (UTC)

The main place to go get schematics early game is Val Royeaux (the merchant in a shop at the top of that one terrace right of the entrance), and I hear that there's a merchant in the Hissing Wastes that has some good schematics. Jsharkey621 (talk) 20:54, December 17, 2014 (UTC)

I suppose the point about unique armors is having them staying unique. Also, you'll note that normal armors need upgrades to offer miscellaneous buffs, while unique armors have default miscellaneous buffs. The only practical difference is about lack of customization options. And yeah, the merchant in Hissing Wastes have the battlemaster, prowler and battlemage armor schematics (for the sturdy and superior versions you'll need the connections merchant rare inventory perk). These are among the best armors in the game and are the "Inquisitor Armor" shown in the trailers. (Joao gabrielp (talk) 22:13, December 17, 2014 (UTC))

Are you talking about "the short list" perk? Jsharkey621 (talk) 19:09, December 18, 2014 (UTC)

Yes. You'll need this perk to find the best schematics available on merchants. (Joao gabrielp (talk) 20:02, December 18, 2014 (UTC))

Ok thanks, that definetly makes it a high priority perk at later levels.

Has anyone taken the Warrior Schematics Perks and found them to be of any use for end game? It sounds to me that buying the best schematics and crafting your own is more ideal for top tier equipment rather than acquiring a set list of schematics through an Inquisition Perk? - Darth Schlock (talk) 03:40, December 22, 2014 (UTC) Darth Schlock

At level 18 go to the Hissing Waste, there in a canyon roughly north west of where you start is a store that sells some of the best armour schematic I've found for 9000 gold each and outright beat the schematics given by those perks (which are only good until you get level 18 or find better armour). The only armour schematic that beats the ones sold in the Hissing wastes is the Legion of the Dead Armour also found in the Hissing Wastes. --92.23.177.28 (talk) 20:49, December 26, 2014 (UTC)

Agreed. The Battlemage and Battlemaster armor schematics purchased in the Hissing Wastes are awesome. Outfitting my mages and warriors for the end fight now. --98.178.170.48 (talk) 23:53, December 26, 2014 (UTC)
