CVG is reporting that Greg Zeschuk, one of the two founders of Bioware, and one of the executive producers of DA:O and DA2, has left Bioware. Any thoughts on what this means for Dragon Age or Bioware more generally? I can't help feeling it's a bad sign. See here for the report: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/362362/bioware-co-founder-leaves-the-studio-report/ --NickyStuu (talk) 13:29, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, when a founding member of a company leaves, you can tell that Bad Things are coming. NOt bad things, Bad Things. You can feel the capitalization there. Here's hoping that DA3 dosen't wind up being like KH3, with fans waiting HOW long now for it. Avg Man (talk) 14:51, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

Keep calm, no problem, just cause some random guy left it ain`t a big deal...... Wait, co-founder... OH MY, IT IS OVER, NO HOPE, NO DA3, NO MAGES, NO TEMPLARS, NO TAINT, NO BLIGHT, NO OLD GODS, NO MAKER.... oh yeah, forgot that the maker is a lie.... NO ALISTAR, NO WARDENS, NO DARKSPAWN....... R.I.P. Bioware The fires of Tzeentch change all! (talk) 15:52, August 10, 2012

That's not what the report says. It says he has left his position as head of bioware Austin. He is still with EA, and thus still with bioware. Now, this is pretty much confirmation that TOR is an abject disaster, so the bad things to come is probably spot on. And given the "spending time with the family" junk....It's possible he was told to go, but not fired because of who he is. Or that he has left with tail between legs. Not much info though. It could also be a sign of impending restructuring bioware wide too, and not just the tor team. Either way, it gives EA more power over bioware and the direction the games are going. so not good news for anyone really. The Grey Unknown (talk) 16:09, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

EA already had full power. -Algol- (talk) 16:27, August 10, 2012 (UTC)
true, but it'll be less disguised now. And Bioware is EA anyway, so semantics and perception really...The Grey Unknown (talk) 17:40, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

In any case, this whole "restructuring Bioware" stuff is the thing we should be really concerned with. How more can one restructure, if it's already a subdivision? The next logical step is dissolving, just like it happened with Maxis and Bullfrog. I see it as a beginning of the end. And a fitting end, I should say. -Algol- (talk) 16:27, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

... Karpyshyn and Knowles had already left a while ago. So what else is new? -Gabriellesig 16:42, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

Wow. Exaggerating much? It says he left austin not that he was fired, laid off or the like. I mean it may be buisness speak, but from what I read all we know is that he went back to Canada since he's been technically been at work non stop for the past six or seven years and because the model is different they might actually need someone who's worked on free to play games. 173.49.188.126 (talk) 17:34, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

He hasn't left Bioware he's only gone for a holiday after giving up his current post to someone else. You guys are over reacting, a lot. In fact the article even says he'll be thinking about some new games while taking a break from regular work. Diain (talk) 17:45, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

Exaggerating, firings, laid off, holidays, the end of bioware, perhaps the world too!, and all that aside...all we KNOW is co-founder Greg has quit/left his position as head of Bioware-Austin. He has not left EA (not bioware as EA is bioware) and is still a VP in EA under Bioware's sub-division. He is going to be doing "other projects" and "spend time with his family in Canada." All valid points I'm sure. That's it....Now. Restructuring has been going on already for about four to six months, so that's a given, and that will affect DA at some point. All else is speculation, though some seem to think Bioware-Austin may be taken from Bioware's division completely and run by EA directly (I kinda doubt it though)... However, if you think he's just leaving to go spend time with the family and go on vacation, there's a bridge over here I'd like to sell....anyway. In all seriousness, what's probably happening here is EA, and BW, are "protecting" him in case TOR just collapses after the F2P switch. If it does, and it's highly likely at this point the game will never even come close to making the money spent on it back, heads will begin to roll here soon in some major fashion. He's leaving because, given his status, he can't be in that group. The BW co-founders are more secure than EA's CEO actually in this regard, even if only symbolically. That's probably about it really. It's not the end of the world, but it is serious in the sense that things will certainly change after the dominoes start to fall. Given the most recent reports of TOR's cost and marketing (some estimates go as high as 500 million with that massive marketing push for six plus months), one of those changes will probably be a scaled back version of Bioware of some sort inside EA. Smaller teams, maybe one less game developed at a time (3 down to 2), perhaps a few more little things...but either way, Morrigan was right. Change is coming. We'll see how it goes.
