Seeing Selty has been thinking about ways to improve the site, and I'd been thinking of ways to improve things too I thought this might be a good place to work out what we want to do.
I think it definitely time this was expanded. At a minimum I would like to see the class bar unlocked to include specializations, a heading for equipment and a heading for real world articles.
I like the idea of having a table of contents for the most visited and important articles, like skills, achievements, that don't show up on the sidebar. I know this was something Selty mentioned a little while ago and I think we have enough now to warrant it now.
[As for the "TOC", do you wish to do something similar to the "Mass Effect Wikia" front page?] -- Snfonseka
Personally I would like to keep the Codex entries confined to pages about the codex, rather than integrating them into articles. I think you can see on the dwarves and elves page that they tend to dwarf the article (no pun intended). I'm sure there will be some quotes we can work in, but whole sections doesn't seem like a good idea to me. I think Mass Effect does it well.
[This is a good idea. If the codex entries come with corresponding codex pictures (like in Mass Effect), we can insert those pictures as well.] -- Snfonseka
- While the large quotes from the codex and offical wiki are very flavorful, I'd prefer we'd keep them seperate from the main articles and have a section devoted just to the various entries. I'd like the wiki to stay 'encyclopeda like' in that people can jump on and quickly get information 'dwarves have trouble reproducing' instead of having to wage through a five paragraph long in-setting account of dwarves being unable to reproduce. -- Maria Caliban 21:46, October 29, 2009 (UTC)
- Walkthrough & Side Quest Pages
These probably won't need much planning. I imagine the walkthrough will focus on the critical path and I think if the sidequest page has a list of sidequests broken down by location (similar to how the specializations page works) that should be fine. But as they will probably be among the most visited pages we may as well see what ideas people have.
[We need three categories. They are "walkthrough", "main-quests", "side-quests". "walkthrough category" will be the parent category of other two. Also we may need to split the main-quest section into separate sub-sections according to origins (at least the beginning of the game will be different based on the origins)]-- Snfonseka
Well that's all the ideas I have, what do people think? Loleil 04:41, October 29, 2009 (UTC)
- We might want to wait until we actually play the game before deciding how the walk-through section should be arranged. -- Maria Caliban 21:46, October 29, 2009 (UTC)
