I've noticed the location pages are all over the place and I'd be happy to help make them a bit more uniform. To that end, I wanted to clarify some of the headings and to list them all (or at least the one's I've seen) to see if there are any missing:

  • Background
  • Involvement
  • Places
    • Should there be a list of regions (e.g. Regions in the Hinterlands) or should these be separate pages? This seems redundant but I think there's an influence reward probably worth mentioning
    • What other sub-headings should there be (e.g. Inquisition camps, which already appears on some pages)?
  • Quests
    • Are these side quests only, quests started in the area, quests involved in the area (e.g. Favors the First Enchanter which involves 3 locations)?
    • Should they be separated into side quests, rift quests, requisition quests (or more) likes the Quests (Inquisition) page?
  • Characters
  • Enemies
  • Creatures
    • Is such a heading a worthwhile idea for the non-aggressive critters roaming around?
  • Resources
  • Notable items
    • Does this include loot and things like logging stands and quarries?
  • Collectables
    • I personally think this should be a heading as per the Hinterlands page which can be dedicated to Collections only, showing the items by location

  • Trivia

Would like to hear any feedback as I'm happy to try and make a dent in some improvements. -- Ness csr (talk) 13:55, January 27, 2015 (UTC)

What we need are maps of each area with everything detailed... what do you guys think??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by DaveTheManiac (talkcontribs)

Actually, we do have Guidelines regarding the layout of location articles. The order on it is good, in my opinion, but I think it could use some updating. We should include enemies and creatures on all location pages definitely. Creatures are important in my mind since they drop necessary crafting materials and research items. I don't know if they really need their own section, though. Another option would be to list them under enemies and notate them as "non-agressive" or something. Places is also important, since they're minor enough to not warrant their own articles. Regions would be covered under places, wouldn't it? We could name it either one. Resources would fall under the current guidelines as Notable items, along with any noteworthy weapons, equipment, logging stands, etc. Basically anything you would want to know is in that region because you need it for something. For quests, anything that appears under the location section in the journal should be on the location article. Maybe sort them by type, but I don't see a need for separate subheadings.

And yes, Dave, we do need maps, which will come eventually. We have them for most older location articles. We just have to be careful about the kind of map used, because using the ones in the Prima Guide would be a copyright violation, so we'll need to take screenshots and label them, etc etc. --Kelcat Talk 00:12, January 28, 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for updating me on that one... was gonna upload one or link it from another site.--DaveManiac3 03:05, January 28, 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for the replies. I know I had seen those guidelines before but it completely slipped my mind. The only thing I don't think it really deals with properly are the collection items since that's pretty much a DAI thing but adding these as notable items should work for the most part (which people have been doing) -- Ness csr (talk) 04:01, January 28, 2015 (UTC)
