I'm bout to finish my first playthrough in DA2 and really enjoying it. But I was wondering if the choices in Awakening impacted the story in DA2? I only played DA:O and not the expansion so was thinking of going back and playing Awakening after I finish either this playthrough or a second one in DA2. Just wondering if it impacts the story a lot and if it's worth going back to play.

It does effect it, as numerous references are made to the choices made in DA and its expansions, also I have encountered at least 3 quests which are only available if you made certain decisions in DA:O and Awakening, for example *SPOILER* Harromount *Spoiler* --Darkmysticx9 (talk) 15:56, March 16, 2011 (UTC)DarkMystic

I did notice a little bug with an imported Witch Hunt save, which also had Awakening playthrough included. I killed the Architect but in the quest to find Nathaniel he said the Wardens thought the Deep Roads would be safer since the Architect was spared (and ended up overwhelmed). Seemed very odd to me. Yes, Awakening does matter. For example, if Nathaniel Howe does not survive (this can happen if you picked a preset story that isn't "Martyr") his quest in Act 3 isn't available, which is the only way you can complete Varric's armor. There may be a few other things you miss out on, but Awakening doesn't have that much of an affect. SenorCero (talk) 17:06, March 17, 2011 (UTC)
