Forums: Index > Game HelpDA: Inquisition (PC) Cutscenes and conversation scenes stutter like crazy. What's causing it?

So, I've been playing DA: Inquisition for 13 hours now, and I can see that the cutscenes and conversations stutter a lot with me. The game runs smoothly most of the time outside of that, excluding some framerate drops here and there. What's weird about it, is that my computer should be more than enough to run the game at max settings.

Here's my specs:

Motherboard: ASUS ROG MAXIMUS RANGER VII

CPU: Intel i7-4790K 4.0 Ghz.

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 Ti

RAM: 8.0 Gb

Does anyone else have these same issues? I have the latest GPU drivers and all, and I don't even have the game's settings at max. Advice on removing the issue would be marvelous, if there are any, it's annoying to see so much stuttering in important cutscenes.

Can you describe the stuttering? The worst I ever have is something that appears to be a slightly reduced frame rate. But it isn't a stutter, it's consistent throughout a particular scene or two. Other scenes are fine. Believe it! (talk) 15:25, November 21, 2014 (UTC)

I've been experiencing the same thing on 360. It's wierd when it happens, like a character is fluttering between two different sentences back and forth like a strobe light. Only lasts for one line of dialogue, though. Also, has anyone encountered a bug in Cassandra's romance scene? The audio runs smoothly but visuals sort of just... stop moving; as if the characters were frozen, yet their eyes keep blinking so it's the creepiest thing I've ever seen. I had to skip precious dialogue in order to continue, until eventually I couldn't skip any longer. Crimpycracker (talk) 15:39, November 21, 2014 (UTC)

The stuttering looks like lag, something you'd see when playing on a computer with poor specs. It shouldn't happen with my computer though, since I do meet the recommended specs more than enough. I don't know if it's just bad optimization on BioWare's part, or what, but only the cutscenes have this persistent stutter/lag, and not the rest of the game, outside of few framerate drops. cutscenes are locked at 30 fps, it will be patched. [1]

Is that so? Did BioWare state this? Well, it would certainly explain it, though I did notice that setting "Post-process anti-aliasing" off helped just a tiny bit. Joupena (talk) 16:13, November 21, 2014 (UTC)

Okay, thank you, I hope this patch comes out soon. In the meanwhile, I might try out that fix. Joupena (talk) 16:35, November 21, 2014 (UTC)
