Which of Hawke's siblings would you rather have as a companion? Im thinking that i'll be a mage just to have carver as a companion but i might change my mind later on.Zelnok (talk) 16:22, March 3, 2011 (UTC) Zelnok
To be honest I prefer Bethany, she seems to have more personality, Carver has a stupid name, looks like a nunce and somehow has Ageless, infuriating!-posted by xxxxxxxx
- Carver may have Ageless, but I think Hawke has a Yusaris lookalike. DAWUSS (talk) 19:15, March 3, 2011 (UTC)
- I wonder how many Carvers read your post here. -Corrector
Bethany has a better chest
- I thought that changed based on your class. Maybe I'm remembering wrong though. Blueyedsoul (talk) 17:25, March 3, 2011 (UTC)
- Who dies is based on your class. In the codex or journal, it says that Carver has always felt less accomplished compared to his older brother/sister. While I haven't checked it for the mage yet, in warrior and rogue playthroughs, it just says that Bethany is glad you never became a mage. But I'm pretty sure that the Friendship/Rivalry bars are the same no matter what class you are. It's just that one of them doesn't matter. Ologath (talk) 17:39, March 3, 2011 (UTC)
I think, i will try Bethany first, she seems like a nice and supportive sibling. On the next playthrough i wil try with Carver. While i know that Carver doesnt have the nicest personality, i think his rivalry with Hawke can add some interesting tension to the story. --ArakinTheWarden (talk) 17:55, March 3, 2011 (UTC)
Bethany, of course, although i wanna be mage and in that scenario is impossible have her in the party, because she dies :( don`t like Carver, if Bethany dies he doesn`t seem affected, meanwhile if he dies Bethany looks sad.Karlosj1012 (talk) 19:08, March 3, 2011 (UTC)
Bethany, naturally, even if i'm a mage. Set aside someone to heal so you don't have to! That's how we roll. Plus she's so much better personality wise than Carver. If you were a mage you'd have someone to relate to more. The list goes on and on. --Reese777 (talk) 20:12, March 3, 2011 (UTC)
- Except you can't have Bethany if you're a mage. She ends up dying. Jessica Sutter (talk) 20:38, March 6, 2011 (UTC)
- I'm sure it won't be long before someone comes up with a mod that lets you choose who to sacrifice and who to save. Blueyedsoul (talk) 21:34, March 3, 2011 (UTC)
Both i plan too play as a mage first so i will get to know carver well your all learning about bethany but i am definatly going to playthrough agian as a warrior or rouge so i can learn about bethany too.
The mod thing might work for people who want to like be mages but still have carver die like me is good but it wont be fit in to the story since dragon age 3 is already being planed out and i dont think bioware will give you the option of importing something thats screwd up
Bethany. Even though I'll be a mage. I don't like Carver. I'd rather have a mage sister that loves me than have a lil brother that's always gonna be jealous of me. Emo Russian Awesomeness 03:12, March 4, 2011 (UTC)
I would rather have Bethany over Carver. Just because Bethany cares more for her siblings rather then Carver. Not only that she would seem the easiest one to bond with. Carver doesn't seem like he cares much for his family. Like in the scene when Bethany dies he seems so unemotional about it. For makers sakes it your sister!!! Plus how cool would it be for Bethany and Hawke(as a mage) teaming up together and owning everything in site. Emmalee (talk) 04:00, March 4, 2011 (UTC)
Bethany obviously, is there another choice?
I would choose Bethany if the I could choose independent of my choice of class. Hopefully some kind of 3rd part mod will be able to change that quickly. Basically who can say no to a pretty young female mage?(no one if she is a mage with a mind control skill). PeterR (talk) 17:40, March 7, 2011 (UTC)
- Bethanys mind control, does it have anything to do with her godly bosom? But yeah, either way I'd go with Bethany mostly since she seems nicer then Carver. 188.8.131.52 (talk) 18:11, March 7, 2011 (UTC)
I for one would actually prefer carver, while I would like to be able to chose but being a mage person, he"d be my choice anyway, since I'm a mage a tank makes more sense to have as an ally, and while bethonys nice, nice cant protect you from bandits, and having my brother as a rival is more relatable than having my sister as a friend, well for me anyway -anonymous poster-
I kind of like Bethany more due to her personality. I am not gonna use either of them in my party for long anyways, soo ... And Bethany works out great, considering I prefer to play rogue. PurpleNurplex0x (talk) 21:19, March 7, 2011 (UTC)
From the looks of these forum postings some people are going to be disappointed when they find out Bethany dies if they take the mage route! Anyhow, since I really enjoyed the mage class in the demo (rogue 2nd) I'm fine with losing Bethany; however, I hope there will be a gender dynamic (i.e. brother/brother vs. sister/brother) as well as the class dynamic with Hawke and Carver. I just did my first playthrough last night as a rogue. Now I am doing one as a mage. I am standing by my statement that I want Bethany. She was one of my main party members and was a bad ass mage. Now that I am playing one I have to have Carver. From the get go he was a little prick. I tried being nice to him but he wasn't having any of it. The little asshole even tried to blame me for what happened to Bethany. When I get to the Deep Roads I am going to leave him home so he can join the templars. For the reason I wanna shove my staff down his troat and pull it out his ass. 184.108.40.206 (talk) 13:51, March 12, 2011 (UTC)
- Haha, true to be fair tho no matter how I look at it I can't see a single good fricking reason to side with the templars at all. 220.127.116.11 (talk) 14:13, March 12, 2011 (UTC)
I hate either one of them dying. I just love the console that I was able to become a mage after Carver had died, but having them both alive would be perfect, just perfect. Some family drama between the twins and less tragedy here and there. Bethany's nicer and the one I like more but still there's a certain fire in Carver that I'd like to see throughout the whole game. Maybe it's the final regret he has and finally admits Hawke's the reason why he's still there. Toolset, come here! I'll make them both live. Evaporate (talk) 14:10, March 12, 2011 (UTC)
I just did a mage playthrough and I rather liked having Carver with me in my party. The sibling rivalry and tension that exists made the game interesting. I like that they actually have different personalities and do not just substitute for each other. And I think Carver, being the rival, has more potential to reach a cathartic ending with his older sibling.
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER I almost wish that Mama Hawke had died in Lothering instead of one of the siblings... then I wouldn't have had to see that horrifying crap in Act 2.--Hdubs (talk) 20:01, March 12, 2011 (UTC)
