I mean it seams like bioware mirrored the mages with the middle east especialy with the whole "There not all bad" thing and then when Anders blew up the chantry that kinda put the icing on the cake GarettTheBoy (talk) 14:03, July 20, 2012 (UTC)

Not gonna lie, when I saw the title, I thought you were trolling. On topic, maybe. Sure, we have the extremists (Anders), the psycho's (Quentin), and all sorts of assorted bad mages (generic enemy mage #524(random number)), but we also have good mages like the healers (Wynne), and the "respectable" leaders (Orsino, Irving (notice the quotes)). So, by your definition of the Middle East, maybe.Avg Man (talk) 18:51, July 20, 2012 (UTC)

And then real life Templar's led the Crusades and than it's the fictional Templar's that suppress the Circle of Magi GarettTheBoy (talk) 04:13, July 21, 2012 (UTC)

What the? what are you guys talking...? Do you mean Bioware Templars are middle east Knight Templars and Bioware Mages are well.. Muslims or what? That's the Crusade right? They attacked Jerusalem to find this one special holy grael. I thought this years before too but never realised others thinking this too... whatever, i will join the Templars like always. MEVLUT COUSLAND (talk) 21 July 2012, 09:52 (UTC)

The crusades were just an exuse to murder the heretics who believed the same god but with a another name. Just meaningles wars of some stupid reliogues shit. And the land wasnt even theirs offcourse the natives would defend their own land. Stupid vatican church. Anders should bombd that away. --87.95.70.57 (talk) 10:12, July 21, 2012 (UTC)Jak Darckner

Even without the Templars they put a lot of emphasis on the fact that Anders was a fanatical terroris willing to die for his cuase GarettTheBoy (talk) 11:38, July 21, 2012 (UTC)

I fear the OP is committing the same mistake as many English/Reading teachers do everyday: reading into things that are not actually in the subtext. You could apply as much supposition as you want, but without any details you might as well beat a dead horse. On a side note, I'm surprised that people don't use the plural ofMagimore often? EzzyD (talk) 12:05, July 21, 2012 (UTC)

I wish people would learn their history before posing bold questions such as this topic title. It may be very loosely based on the crusades but loosely is the key word here. I doubt it's as black and white as Templars=Christians/Crusaders and Mages=Muslims. Not all terrorists are muslim or have goals to further a Islamic cause. Timothy Mcveigh was a terrorist and he is not muslim and did not follow the islamic faith. To believe that all terrorist are muslim is ignorant beyond belief. The whole "They're not all bad" that you're going off of to base your theory is terrible. Every group of people has their bad apples. So the Templar's in DA2 weren't all bad either. Could they be based off of the muslims too? Come on now...--174.141.181.168 (talk) 15:41, July 21, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, i was just thinking. he posted middle east and i saw only templars and mages and the history says knight templars had war with muslims in jerusalem. sorry, if i attacked you. you are muslims right? ohh and btw who said muslim=terrorist? MEVLUT COUSLAND (talk) 21 July 2012, 17:49 (UTC)

I think that Anders represent the hero from Norway. --87.95.70.57 (talk) 16:45, July 21, 2012 (UTC)Jak Darckner

why norway? MEVLUT COUSLAND (talk) 21 July 2012, 18:52 (UTC)

Can someone work the magic and lock this thread before it becomes unpleasant? EzzyD (talk) 16:53, July 21, 2012 (UTC)

i agree MEVLUT COUSLAND (talk) 21 July 2012, 18:55 (UTC)
Thirded. I don't see this being pleasent if it drags out.Avg Man (talk) 22:06, July 21, 2012 (UTC)
I disagree because the thread doesn't seem to be headed in an unpleasant direction yet, and preemptive locking strikes me as a bit of an extreme measure. ----Isolationistmagi 07:33, July 22, 2012 (UTC)

I think you have the right idea, it's an allegory, but specifying a real-world group of people to whom it pertains, if any, is impossible without confirmation from someone actually involved in the game. There's hundreds of examples in history that someone could make a similarity to. IMHO it doesn't need to be associated with anything real - just being a reflection upon ourselves is enough. Eganogard (talk) 16:58, July 21, 2012 (UTC)

Essentially this. The plight of the mages in the DA universe could literally be an allegory for anything if actually try to look for it. It's a very broad idea with no real origin. I'll admit, I made an audible "What the fuck?" when I first saw this title. Thank god it's not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. Aleksandr the Great (talk) 08:04, July 22, 2012 (UTC)

This thread has been locked since I can't see that it will end well. Chantry symbol King Cousland | Talk   12:52, July 22, 2012 (UTC)
