Steve Valentine was on this week's episode of NCIS. I can't focus on the dialog, because every time he speaks, I'm listening for some witty Alistair-isms. I'm only 13 minutes in, so I'm hoping when he talks to McGee, there is a good Dragon Age reference made, since he's a gamer. Maybe if I'm lucky, he'll tell one of them how to make a really bland, grey, lamb stew. LVTDUDE (talk) 23:51, October 4, 2012 (UTC)

You know, I felt weird playing Uncharted 2 where you have Morrigan with you as a partner for most of the game and Alistair becomes one of your antagonist and taunts you whenever you see him, and could NOT stop thinking "Why is Alistair being a dick to me?". I seem to recall the finding your ass with both hands joke in Uncharted 2 that you see Meeran say in DA2 as well. Tommyspa (talk) 00:11, October 5, 2012 (UTC)

Damn, missed the episode. In any event, references to actors' other works are up to the writers, and if 10 seasons are any indication, they don't understand gamers and computers very well (like the old "tap randomly on the keyboard to hack" trick) and therefore don't care enough to give us a Shout Out. Second, I'm not sure Steve even gives two craps about his side-business ruling Ferelden and obsessing over cheeses. RShepard227 (talk) 00:15, October 5, 2012 (UTC)

McGee's character is a gamer though, and not too long ago he dropped "an arrow in the knee" Skyrim reference. Yes the tap, tap, tap, hey I just hacked into the Pentagon mainframe scenes in TV shows are annoying, but it is Hollywood, after all. NCIS seems to be better than most when it comes to referring to games and gamers, though. LVTDUDE (talk) 00:26, October 5, 2012 (UTC)

Forced Meme. In other words, so painfully rammed down everyone's throat that it's hit mainstream news and television, thus it doesn't count. And McGee, from what I've seen over ten years, is Flanderized, and primetime television in general does a shit job of representing the gamer demographic. In their eyes, we're still the shy nerdy antisocial degenerates who haven't seen a tan in years. And I'll try not to talk news at the risk of going off topic, but since Columbine and in the past three years particularly, they've blamed acts of massacre solely on video games, not the demented ideology of Anders Breivik or the inborn insanity of the Colorado shooter. No, it's always the games' fault, their "violence" told them to do this. RShepard227 (talk) 00:40, October 5, 2012 (UTC)
