I would like my chartacter to have a home within a village instead of a camp as in DAO, with every gained level a hero would as well as gain skills get one "village upgrade" giving u of course multiple choices between the desired paths for your village... with each decision regarding how to build your village u influence the future of it - meaning if i build A i cant build B, hence in the future the village will look in a certain way, expend in different manner, add a companion more suitable as well as quests... IMO opinion that would add to the fun of building somethin unique for your character as well as add romance and interaction possibilities within your hometown (village can develop into a town if chosen the right direction etc)... (whenever choosing an upgrade u also choose where to place it and u can see the construction site, the building would be done and within the town when u reach another level, buildings u could choose to build would benefit the village making u a cooler person or a more hated person depending on the choices made, buildings could also benefit your party by adding magical, combat, moral, whatever buffs depending on the building, u may as well choose to go in a diffeerent more egoistic path, each decision will of course have its advantages and disadvantages and change the interaction between the ppl of the village with u) it adds a bit more fun to the game IMO.... your opinions ? Too be honest that way makes it too much like the Fable series.. if anything I would like to see a free map system (walking from town to town)or more random encounters when moving from location to location. Yet why change something that obviously works so well giving hours of enjoyment. Canthalyon (talk) 10:57, January 28, 2011 (UTC)

hmm.. not really familiar with the fable series...i dont see it as a change it only changes the camp with something bigger with more depth and more quests as well as more interaction, IMO it would add to the depth and enjoyment of the game by adding a new aspect to hero's development, u find it to be a silly idea, i respect that... I hope that you remember that we should be spending most of DA2 in and around the city of Kirkwall. That's what all of the news from Bioware has been saying. Techman1019 (talk) 13:17, January 28, 2011 (UTC)

I think we are actually getting a house within Kirkwall instead of a camp. Other party members will be able to visit your house, and vice versa. I think the brief scenes with Isabela and Hawke in the Making Of video were inside Hawke's home. IanFTW (talk) 14:46, January 28, 2011 (UTC)

I read this too, and I see im not the only one that thinks this is like Fable. Smitheeey you would probably like fable(1,2,3) I have all 3 lol. I think that dragon age is more about combat and adventure rather than building a village, its an interesting idea, but I dont think it would mix well with dragon age.

well to me besides the cool quests and action the ability to develop my character and interact with others is a really major part of the fun, thats why i thought it would be cool to add another aspect of developing stuff with my character as well as having more interaction with ppl who actually know me (ex girlfriend, childhood friend, old family friend, many possibilities for interesting interaction as well as emberrassing/comic moments) IMO adding those interactions and romances with girls/guys who arent my companions would make it more of a fun.. but i get your opinions, u think the game is awesome (agreed btw) and u rather not change it, respect that.. off to see whats this fable all about LOLSmitheeey (talk) 15:02, January 28, 2011 (UTC)

I actually think they could add something like that in without spoiling the dragon age formula. But i'm thinking it would work better with something like a castle/fortress, like in awakening. Basically, what i'm thinking in this case is a 'getting kirkwall prepared to repel the qunari' questline where your improvements actually have a visible impact and/or change what occurs in the cutscenes. So depending on your choices during the quest, your city may be less able to defend itself/parts destroyed/people killed etc. And to your second part, i think adding more depth to the characters throughout the city would also be nice. It would be more immersive and satisfying to have the response from the citizens change as you become 'the hero'. Even small things, like for example the bartender who you go to to hear local news changing his greeting as you progress. To be honest, I don't think that romantic options outside your party would work too well..(besides maybe casual flings like kelly in mass effect). There's something about the whole adventuring together/triggering conversations at pivotal moments that allows the romance options to develop in greater depth and feel more real. So romance options probably would have to stick to party members. As for comic moments all you really need is a party member like oghren but hey, the more the merrier i guess haha. Edit: Um, and also i don't think that the whole village-to-town/choosing where to build/affecting your stats part would work.. That seems a little too sandbox to fit in the dragon age world. If you like that sort of thing, definitely try fable 3 or spore maybe Mr Afk (talk) 17:03, January 28, 2011 (UTC)

I think that this came up in one of the PAX interviews. One of the questions asked if we would be able to have an upgradeable "headquarters" similar to Monterrigioni in Assassin's Creed 2. David Gaider stated that the Hawke's would reside at the vacant estate of Hawke's mother's relatives, the Amells. I believe that he stated that we would be unable to upgrade it however. I think it sounds like a good feature that could work well. King Cousland (talk) 18:47, January 28, 2011 (UTC)

It's not a bad idea but since Mass Effect 2 and (like king cousland said) AC2 both have had that feature put in their sequels it just seems a little boring to me(although ME2 did make it somewhat meaningful). There are too many games, most notably made by Rockstar, which have little sidequests, and things to upgrade that makes me feel like I'm just doing busywork. However if they could put their awesome Bioware style spin on a headquarter upgrade then I'm all for it. ChristopherCousland (talk) 21:32, January 28, 2011 (UTC)
