Acquisition
Edit
This quest is acquired at the beginning of Act 2, when Hawke is approached by Bodahn after leaving the Viscount's Keep.
Walkthrough
Edit
During the cutscene, Bodahn gives Hawke the remainder of the fortune accumulated from The Deep Roads Expedition, and graciously offers his thanks for allowing himself and Sandal to live at the estate. He also says that Leandra has requested that Hawke return home as soon as possible. If the quest Friends in Low Places was completed during Act 1, Offered and Lost simultaneously occurs and Bodahn says that Dougal is at the estate and refuses to leave before the cutscene ends.
Travel to the Hawke Estate in Hightown. Once inside another cutscene triggers, sweeping the estate's interior. If Dougal is present there is a confrontation in which he threatens Leandra's safety if Hawke refuses to pay him more gold. Telling him to "Piss off" will result in a random encounter later.
Aveline arrives for a visit. She informs Hawke that the Templar Emeric (encountered during the Act 1 quest The First Sacrifice) has been pestering the Guard about a murder case and asks Hawke to speak with him.
Result
Edit
Unlocks the main quest, Prime Suspect.
Trivia
Edit
Aveline speaks of Emeric and asks "Why can't he spend his declining years building a boat or something?" This could be a reference to Gibbs on NCIS, who spends his off-duty time building boats in his basement/workshop.
