Deraboam is an Orlesian merchant in Dragon Age: Inquisition; his shop can be found on the Upper Level of Val Royeaux's Summer Bazaar.

Background[]

Deraboam "sells" only one item, though no-one has ever actually purchased it, as he claims it is too expensive to be merely sold. Instead, he lives off of bribes and tributes wealthy visitors offer in an attempt to have the price lowered or to reveal what the item is. Deraboam's store front is located on the upper level of the Summer Bazaar, on the northwestern side of the level's upper ring.

Involvement[]

Deraboam claims that the actual item he sells is irrelevant and that it is the price that makes it valuable and that the notoriety from being the one who purchases it outweighs its usefulness. He is extremely brusque when inquiries are made into what the item may or may not be, and claims that it isn't overpriced as that would mean it is priced more than what it is worth. As the item is unique, Deraboam alone has placed a value on it that he believes to be accurate, if expensive. He is uninterested in the politics of Val Royeaux; so much so that he has had assassins sent after him. Deraboam's mystery box is unlocked and available for purchase after addressing the Chantry during the main quest the Threat Remains.

Notes[]

  • If the Inquisitor purchases and examines the item, the war table operation the Big One? will become available. Completing the war table operation will unlock the mystery box's content.
  • If he is spoken to after the item is purchased, he will only say, "I am undone. Buried in wealth, but undone."
