Using this spell on the last standing enemy counts as ending a battle, allowing you to save and do things you couldn't do in battle if need be.
No XP is granted if a charmed enemy dies, nor is any XP granted if the charmed enemy directly kills a former ally. Walking Bomb or Virulent Walking Bomb cast prior to Blood Control will still result in experience if the explosion kills an enemy.
